Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

so i'm guessing we want a germany win over portugal tomorrow?

Checked the goal by Messi and I think it went through the guys legs. That's a heck of a shot if that's the case.

I checked the replay and it definitely was deflected. Probably not enough to make them take away the goal unless they really want to put the screws to Argentina :D

Approximately 18 hours until this tournament begins for the United States. I am so pumped to see this team against Ghana...I really hope that I'm not thoroughly depressed at this time tomorrow!

Alright then. Flush the bombers, get the subs in launch mode. We are at DEFCON 1.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

normally i'd be afraid that germany and portugal would be content playing it safe and being fine with a draw but that hasn't really happened yet this world cup.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

What are the odds that I can record the Ger-Por game, watch the US game live and make it until 8:30 or so tonight without any spoilers so I can watch the Germany game without knowing the result?

1000:1?

Impossible, there is no way ESPN doesn't mention the Germany v Portugal result...Hell, I was watching a game on the DVR and had to zoom in on the live broadcast of Brewers v Reds so I couldn't see the bottom line that included World Cup scores.

Stay off this thread, don't watch E$PN, or Univision.

There's Day 1 of a test match (cricket) between New Zealand and West Indies on ESPN3. That will take all day and it will keep you fixated on slips, deep covers, wickets, LBW's, 4's and 6's.

ESPN is out because of the bottom line.

If you don't know Spanish, watch on Univision and then don't watch any pregame, halftime, or postgame coverage. They have no bottom line but will mention it in the broadcast so the language barrier is really your only hope.
