Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

That answers my earlier question...Manaus is only hosting night matches because of the heat and humidity, so they couldn't have played this afternoon.

BREAKING: The Italians are already diving. I know, I know...this is shocking news, but the Italians might dive a little in this game.

First one I saw was Chielliini go down and get up with an incredulous look to the ref and his arms outstretched, about two minutes in. Surprised it took that long.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

Italy score and Sepp is doing a jig at the prospect of England crashing out at the group stage.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

Let's hope the English channel their inner-Monte Cassino and start rampaging in Italian territory.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

Must've been and Oh Shid:eek: experience for the English keeper. He had to know that Balotelli could chip it over his head, but I don't know there was anything else he could do.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

I don't think having the name Immobile is a good one to have in a game where you run around a lot.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

It is not official but the referee for USA-GHA seems to be Nestor Pitana from Argentina:
Nestor Pitana - Argentina
International matches: 38

Yellow cards (per game): 191/5.03

Red cards (per game): 9/0.24

Penalties (per game): 7/0.18

A 191 cautions in 38 matches! I don't like the way this looks...
Wikipedia lists a swede...
Jonas Eriksson
International matches: 89

Yellow cards (per game): 321/3.61

Red cards (per game): 16/0.18

Penalties (per game): 16/0.18

That loss hurts. Hopefully England can scratch out something and still get into the knockout stage.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

have to say, taking the scores out of it, costa rica beating uruguay is more surprising than netherlands over spain IMO.
