The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

I don't know what in the heck CONCACAF is, or care, and I was in Athens in March and went to a Panathinaikos game in Athens. Their goalie is one of the backups on the Greece team. So, Go Greece!

CONCACAF is the regional federation including the u.s.

It's essentially like rooting for your conference in the ncaa tournament.

samaras doesn't score a lot but he does do a lot of good things out there

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

Overtime should be interesting. Benches looked close to fighting after the Greek goal.

santos has some ferocious nostril hair

one of the bad things about HD

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

I'm sure MY PEOPLE will find a way to blow this but I want to thank the Greek team for the beauty that is their goalie. Yowza.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

Look at those silly fans in San Jose...don't they have higher expectations for their team?

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

Djamel Haimoudi of Algeria is the referee for USA - Belgium on Tuesday.

https://sports.yahoo.com/news/netherlands-mexico-0-0-halftime-165202397--sow.html

Mexico coach Miguel Herrera, one of the most popular characters at the World Cup because of his emotive ways on the sidelines, blamed Proenca for the loss and accused Robben of diving under a challenge from Rafael Marquez to earn the penalty.

''Today it was the man with the whistle who eliminated us from the World Cup,'' Herrera said. ''If a referee invents a penalty, you're out of the World Cup.

''I hope they have a look at what happened and that this gentleman goes home just like we are.''

This is one of the primary reasons I hate El Tri so much. Blaming the ref like this (especially when they could have but didn't give a penalty to the Dutch earlier) is such an El Tri thing to do.

Historic European powers vs the 'Gerias today.

France colonized Nigeria, and of course there's the 1982 storyline for Germany-Algeria.
