for some reason I am reminded of the Disney cartoon version of The Jungle Book in which the elephant colonel asks for a volunteer and the entire line takes a step backward at the same time, leaving the sleepy inattentive one standing alone in front. It looks like there are times when it almost looks like the CRC defense moves forward in unison, leaving the ITA offensive player offside as a result.

And that's it. Huge win for Costa Rica. One of the best things in the World Cup is when a team like Costa Rica, who no one expected anything from, comes out of nowhere to make some real noise.

italy advances with a point against uruguay. uruguay needs the 3 points.

Unless I missed something, this is the only pair of countries in a group that shares a border - all that travel just to play your neighbor.

I'm torn on this one - still think it's horribly unfair that Switzerland has a seed, so I'm a little bitter toward them, but France....well, no reason needed.

Not much of a contest here it would seem unless the Swiss can really pull a rabbit out of a hat.

I hate how absolutely lucky the French are to be in this group...they should have been with England, Argentina, and Costa Rica.
