The end of leagues as we know?

FSNorth needs to run something. Many times last year on my cable system I had "overlap", where the same hockey game was showing on both FSNorth and one of the Fox College Sports (Atlantic, Central, Pacific) feeds. When UMTC is on BTN, FSNorth will be running something. The easy solution for FSNorth is to grab the patch cord and take an FCS feed (as they've done in the past).

Yes...and guess what when there is any sport or sport show on any network associated with Fox they will show that over hockey...no matter how much you pretend it isnt true and stuck your head in the sand won't make it go away.

But keep the hopes alive...as long as you live in North Dakota you will see your games. No one else will but that is a win/win.

And you enjoy seeing UMn/UW hockey tape delayed to midnight central time (or later) so BTN can run the Friday night PSU/Purdue and Northwestern/Iowa MBB double-header (including full coverage of post-game press conference).

Re: The end of leagues as we know?

Does anyone know what kind of record Miami has against the rest of the members of the BHHC?

Re: The end of leagues as we know?

Which still leaves UND nationally on Fox College Sports.

On the advanced sports only package? Their is a reason that the BTN fought so hard to be located in the expanded/basic channel lineup. UND may be broadcast nationally, but their isn't any money in it and even less exposure to non-traditional fans.

Re: The end of leagues as we know?

All six programs are easily top 20 programs and over the last 5 years. North Dakota, DU and Miami are probably Top 5 [or real close] in average end of season Pairwise. UND has averaged 26.6 wins, Miami 26.4 wins, DU 23.6 wins, CC 20.8 wins, UMD 19.2, UNO 18.2 [Doesn't factor in ties].

That number of wins will surely go down in the new conference due to pure "simple" math. Those teams got to beat up on some weaker conference foes. SOMEBODY will be going down, possibly significantly in that respect.

Exactly what I have been saying...

You do realize that the BTN isn't located in the expanded/basic channel lineups everywhere, right? For instance, I have to pay for an "advanced sports only package" to get the BTN.

you're reall want to see the win % against top 6 teams in their leagues over that time, that would at least represent the expected composition of competition that they would be facing during conference play.

They are going to have to do really well in OOC games because for the most part their conference records are going to move towards 0.500 even in the good years. They don't even have a new program like PSU like the B1G teams will have for the first few years. If I was anyone except UND, I'd be worried about falling into an achievment trap that they just can't dig themselves out of. CC was on the verge of dropping their program back before Lucia saved it and the WCHA was "dilluted". These teams had better be careful what they wish for, someone is always the small fish.

You're not in the BTN/B1G conference footprint.

Re: The end of leagues as we know?

Not every person who attended a B1G school lives in the BTN footprint. The reason of the BTN is to reach a national audience, not just the conference footprint.

2/3 of the FCS channels aren't in the WCHA footprint, however they showed most of the UND hockey games last year. That's how fans who can't go to the games get the opportunity to watch the games.

I know it sucks for UMTC to lose their private network (FSNorth), but you're gaining the four..., fift..., sixt..., a spot on BTN.

Welcome to how Fox Sports Detroit shows things. Saturday night basketball from the PAC-10...er, 12.

The reason for the BTN was to make very large piles of money for the member schools (which it has done a very good job of) while also increasing exposure within the footprint and have national access via a sports package outside of the footprint.

The B1G gets all of the national exposure from ABC/ESPN, the BTN was all about making money by the truckload.

The FCS channels are basically overflow channels for college sports broadcast by the FSN regonal channels, they might give them fancy geographic names, but they are effectively national overflow channels.
