The definitive tournament speculation thread

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I do understand the SNC gets screwed by being forced to play a "play in game", but is it really fair to penalize the East for having more teams? And how do we know who is higher ranked, is SNC higher ranked than Oswego & Norwich? Maybe higher ranked than Plattsburgh and Middlebury but because the previous NCAA rankings are seperated East and West, until they put up a new ranking, we don't know who is ranked higher. At the very least, SNC has shown they were the best a few years ago, and they may do it again. Good luck to all, "may the best team win".

Yea , like he said!

Also for all you conspiracy theorists out there remember by matching up P-Burgh and Middlebury on Saturday the committee is assuring that one of them WILL NOT get to Lake Placid!

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Remember, Platty is the host this year. What is it that our parents used to say? When it's your house, you can make the rules? :)

Its nothing against Plattsburgh, they finished 2nd in the SUNYACS. St.Norbert got hosed, plain and simple for having to play twice when they did everything right to deserve a bye. Did SNC have to solve world hunger to get a bye or what?

But they did assure one of them does make it.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

So for the sake of argument let's say St. Norbert should have gotten a bye?
So who from the East should not have? Norwich? Oswego? Middlebury? P-Burgh?
Someone was going to get the short end of the stick here .
Sorry!

I would guess Bowdoin or Plattsburgh

Elmira?

Elmira?

I'm a western fan, so I really don't know the eastern teams very well. But could someone explain to me how Elmira got in over MVille? On pairwise rankings Elmira is significantly lower, Elmira has lost two of three recent games, in head to head pairwise rankings Elmira is lower, and most important MVille won the conference tournament. Isn't the tournament an automatic qualifier? Why, for example to pick a similar situation, wouldn't the committee just pick Gustavus (reg season champ) over St Thomas (playoff champ) and leave the Tommies out (I'm not advocating this) - does the ECAC West have a conference tourney that means less than others?

And of the 4 western teams, it's guaranteed that three of them won't make it in.

But midd or plattsburgh not getting in is shocking? That's a compromise?

They could've sent adrian to elmira and had plattsburgh and bowdoin play on weds. Two second place conference teams in a play in seems a lot more fair than a regular season and playoff champion from a league just as solid as the sunyac or nescac.

edit: SNC could've gone 8-17-0 or 25-0-0 this season and won the playoffs the same as they did and been in virtually the same situation. What's the point of a regular season if you're going to throw them in a play-in regardless of their season's merits?

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

With P'burgh playing Midd, it guarantees that at least one of the two closest schools to Lake Placid WILL be there.....thus increasing the hometown fan base at the venue.....Great for increasing revenue, lousy for others 'more deserving'.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

If Bowdoin had won today, do you think they could have landed a home game vs. Plattsburgh forcing Midd to travel to Oswego?

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Dear NCAA D3 Selection Committee,

**** you! Not that the majority of you booger eaters would be caught dead outside of the Eastern time zone, but if you have any ailments only a complete *** kicking would cure I can be found in Section G, Row I, seat 8 or 9. I'd be happy to help you out with that. Did I mention **** you? Well, in case I didn't, **** you!

Sincerely,

Lets remember half the selection committee is from the West.

No - pass a health care bill, reduce the federal deficit and develop a full tasting lite beer down to 5 calories....:D

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

My son who has played on 3 National Championship teams(Pee WeeAA,BantamAAA and US Select-17) and wins his final ncaa tourney game because they were played on the ice doesn't get a chance to play for it all against the likes of EC. SNC, Oswego et.al not because M'ville doesn't deserve it ,but because this championship was based on the most outlandish criteria of all --opinion , well my opinion is that Mville are National Champions!Good night.

the ECAC-W does not have an auto bid.

I think it would have been more likely that Bowdoin go to Plattsburgh, which is what I had envisioned all day.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

No, I am quite certain that this is the NCAA's and while we are at it, put the Final 4 back on campus at either one of the Eastern schools mentioned and call it the Burlington Invitational. It is an absolute joke that SNC will have to play the play in game while the Eastern toddlers get their rest.

No, it's the Prime Link or the Times Argus tourney, I have seen, Gustavus Adophus, the Tommies, the Johnies and Stout play in Northfield against Norwich.
