The definitive tournament speculation thread

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Looks like my prediction that the committee would do something NOBODY expected was the only correct prediction.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I've heard St. Norbert will actually be playing the Calgary Flames in four hours at the Saddledome. If they win that they hop down to Anaheim for a Monday game at 11am. Get by that and they get a day off before facing Adrian on Wednesday. At Kreitzberg.

No, I think they have to drive to Houghton to scrimmage Tech on Tuesday.

Dear NCAA <strike>D3 Selection</strike> Bean Counting Committee,

**** you! Not that the majority of you booger eaters would be caught dead outside of the Eastern time zone, but if you have any ailments only a complete *** kicking would cure I can be found in Section G, Row I, seat 8 or 9. I'd be happy to help you out with that. Did I mention **** you? Well, in case I didn't, **** you!

Sincerely,

The committee did what they were suppose to. They were hampered by NCAA restrictions based on bracket integrity.

Blame the NCAA for not investing in a tournament with bracket integrity.

Never happen: the NCAA would have to fly them :(

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

You can say that one 1000x over! Bowdoin and Plattsburgh get into the Show on at-large bids and get byes? THIS IS CRAP!

While I'm not gonna argue about getting a bye, I was definitely surprised. I know myself, along with most of the other Cardinal fans that I've talked with were planning on having a game on Wednesday night.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

The committee should have sent Adrian to Elmira - Then SNC gets their bye, and peace reigns on the board. But I heard early on that Adrian to Elmira wasn't going to happen. I don't get why.

Agreed.

I'm guessing because it's a strict interpretation that the MCHA is a western conference????

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I do understand the SNC gets screwed by being forced to play a "play in game", but is it really fair to penalize the East for having more teams? And how do we know who is higher ranked, is SNC higher ranked than Oswego & Norwich? Maybe higher ranked than Plattsburgh and Middlebury but because the previous NCAA rankings are seperated East and West, until they put up a new ranking, we don't know who is ranked higher. At the very least, SNC has shown they were the best a few years ago, and they may do it again. Good luck to all, "may the best team win".

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

It doesn't really matter who wants to cite what. The fact St. Norbert has to play on Wednesday is an embarrasment to the sport, the tournament, the NCAA and the committee(s).

Absolute joke, no matter how one feels like trying to justify it. Period.
Also, if the NCAA committee is trying to justify this based on travel expenses, Adrian's only about 100 more miles from Elmira than SNC. GRRRRRRRRR

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

No, I am quite certain that this is the NCAA's and while we are at it, put the Final 4 back on campus at either one of the Eastern schools mentioned and call it the Burlington Invitational. It is an absolute joke that SNC will have to play the play in game while the Eastern toddlers get their rest.

So for the sake of argument let's say St. Norbert should have gotten a bye?
So who from the East should not have? Norwich? Oswego? Middlebury? P-Burgh?
Someone was going to get the short end of the stick here .
Sorry!

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Let me get this straight.

The second place sunyac and nescac teams get byes

While the #1 most of the season in the NCHA, and #1 seed in the west, gets a weds play in game.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

For now, it's more interesting to hit Refresh and see the Viewing count rise (now at 387) in the DII/DIII forum as people come to vent....

I had a similar thought - that could have made a sort of de-facto 8-3 setup - Tommies and Gusties play Wednesday, winner gets Norbert.

Norwich, Oswego, Middlebury and Platty would have east byes, I suppose.

Curry-Bowdoin and Adrian-Elmira on Wednesday.

It really doesn't make sense, because if Adrian were to upset SNC, there still would be a flight in their future.

They need to figure the 5 teams with byes, then set up the first round games and quarterfinals based on geographic proximity, but Adrian/Elmira is still legal according to that criterion.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

SNC has to play 2 games? And Plattsburgh has to play one to get to Lake Placid?
Thats awful......no wait, that's a crime.

Remember, Platty is the host this year. What is it that our parents used to say? When it's your house, you can make the rules? :)
