The definitive tournament speculation thread

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Elmira deserved to be in over M'ville... based on the criteria.

Based on the distribution of power this year... the distribution of play-in games is appropriate... based on the NCAA restrictions.

This is the most appropriate bracket based on the criteria and NCAA restrictions.

Blame those, not the committee.

The committee picked a fine time to objectively use the criteria. I think it hurts the ECAC West in the long run, not just Manhattanville.

Or it tells Manhattanville that playing a crap schedule really screws you over in case your conference has a down year.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Close to 300 in the thread now. I'm reminded of the scene in Airplane! where everyone starts lining up to slap the hysterical lady...

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I think you are referring to the Primelink Shootout!!! Every year they invite one team from the West and I think they haven't won a game yet in that tournament....St. Thomas, Stout, and St. John's ( I think) are 0 for the Primelink!!

No, I am quite certain that this is the NCAA's and while we are at it, put the Final 4 back on campus at either one of the Eastern schools mentioned and call it the Burlington Invitational. It is an absolute joke that SNC will have to play the play in game while the Eastern toddlers get their rest.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

That's dumb. Run your mouth about the West being better than the East. What happened last year in the finals again? Neumann 4-Gustavus 1? Yeah the West is way better, you're right.

Does this qualify for the Pierre Maguire drinking game? :)

Absolutely agreed. After SNC, the other 3 teams from the West seem to be really lacking, according to stats. Is it fair to give them a quarterfinal bid over Oswego, Midd, Norwich, etc?? Only SNC has a solid argument. And because of the travel rules, they got the shaft. As for M'Ville, maybe this will wake them up and they'll finally schedule tougher teams for the non-conference.

Too bad SNC wasn't undefeated. Then this would really be a ****ing riot.

And the hysterical lady-slappers are out in force! A tradition like no other.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

As a (mid)westerner, I get that because there are more teams out east, they get more teams in the tournament. That's fine.

The frustration comes in:

* Collectively, knowing it will be just one team in the final four.

* Individually, knowing you have a 25% chance of making it there, while the eastern teams have a 42% chance - all because the NCAA won't spend what it makes on one basketball commercial to fly more teams.

* That the #1 west seed has to play two games to get to Lake Placid, when teams lower in the polls (I know they have no bearing, but for argument's sake) only have to play one.

You are right on there! Our Platty Cards should have had to play-in Wednesday...Maybe a HOME game in Plattsburgh!!:p

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Any word on how the bracket shapes up as it is going into the frozen four? (eg: where teams are placed in the bracket)

My thoughts on who got the bye exactly. Well said Mtuck.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

It doesn't really matter who wants to cite what. The fact St. Norbert has to play on Wednesday is an embarrasment to the sport, the tournament, the NCAA and the committee(s).

Absolute joke, no matter how one feels like trying to justify it. Period.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I'm curious...how much longer is it going to be before the NCAA officially posts this?

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Dear NCAA D3 Selection Committee,

**** you! Not that the majority of you booger eaters would be caught dead outside of the Eastern time zone, but if you have any ailments only a complete *** kicking would cure I can be found in Section G, Row I, seat 8 or 9. I'd be happy to help you out with that. Did I mention **** you? Well, in case I didn't, **** you!

Sincerely,

And if it had gone the way you want, 4 teams that are lower in the Polls would have gotten byes while the #1 or #2 team in country would have had to win twice to get there. The fault is the NCAA's flawed rules (as somebody pointed out) the rights fees for one dumb basketball game (like the 16-17 play in game) would have covered the cost of the transportation to do it right.

It won't be official until they go back and look at their scenarios to make darn sure there isn't a way to completely eliminate all representation from the West Region.

I for one was definitely not expecting to see Elmira get a bid, but it had been mentioned many times on these boards that even if Manhattanville won the ECAC-W Title, it would not guarantee them a bid, this proved that, this is probably the first time the ECAC-W champs have not gotten a bid, that's what happens when your conference has a bad year and there is no "Auto- bid"
I would have been nice to see EC and M'Ville go at it one more time.
Good thing I put in for Wed. off;)

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I've heard St. Norbert will actually be playing the Calgary Flames in four hours at the Saddledome. If they win that they hop down to Anaheim for a Monday game at 11am. Get by that and they get a day off before facing Adrian on Wednesday. At Kreitzberg.
