For some reason, I still remember the #1 answer from Letterman's top ten list of Boutros Boutros Ghali:

Can I can I buy you but you a drink a drink?

George Gaynes, who played Commandant Eric Lassard in the Police Academy movies, and as Punky Brewster's foster/adopted father, died in the last couple days (exact date not given) at age 98.

Actually, looking at the man's brief biography, he was pretty impressive.

Born in Helsinki, he was the son of a Russian artist and a Dutch businessman, while his uncle was the actor Russian-born Gregory Gaye, who had appeared in movies like 'Casablanca’.

Gaynes was raised in France, Switzerland and England, and served in the Royal Dutch Navy during World War II, a move which curtailed a burgeoning opera career having appeared in productions in Italy and France.

Following the war, his family moved to the US, and in New York, Gaynes joined the New York City Opera, and later took to Broadway.

This would have been funnier if he would have said 'Buy' the second time ...:D

Re: The Dead Thread: Yep. Still Dead.

I had to love her quote when asked why she never wrote another novel after To Kill a Mockingbird: "because I said all that I had to say."

(IIRC Go Tell a Watchman was written earlier)

Go Set a Watchmen was written in the mid- to late-50's, and when submitted to a publisher, the publisher told Miss Lee that she should write another book about Scout's childhood because the few glimpses she gave of it in Go Set a Watchmen seemed like an even more interesting story. I'm glad that publisher had some good sense about him/her.

The real author of TKaM died 32 years ago. He trolled everybody. I think by the end even Lee half believed it.
