The Amazing Race: Season 15

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

They were in Alaska getting ready to spend the night in an igloo when they found out they had lost. I know they missed the plane Rob and Brennan and Frank and Marguerite had caught but unsure where they missed the plane. That is the only one I remember, being the first one they hadn't figured out how to keep everyone together, where the final 3 weren't close at the finish.

at least they probably kept each other warm that night!

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

I have a feeling that non-elimination legs aren't planned in advance. They occur if a team the producers feel is interesting is about to get eliminated.

if i remember correctly one season the hippies finished last twice, both were non-elimination, and they went on to win the race. those guys were some real characters.

I've wondered that before, you really think that's how it goes?

I don't think they do it in advance because they really would have kept Zev around after the passport disaster.

While I love a good conspiracy, I don't think the show would open the American Idol can of worms. These shows only work on the perception that they are not rigged. They also might incur some legal fees, though I'm sure the contestants sign away all their rights to sue before they get near the starting line.

I absolutely think that's how it goes. If you're a producer, why would you deny yourself the opportunity to make your show more interesting, particularly if you can keep the secret from the viewing public?

I think the producers had high hopes for the poker players this year. A pair of reasonably attractive women, who deceive people for a living - it must have been a no-brainer to cast them. I really think they were intended as this season's villain (and looked like it early on when they tried the "we're nonprofit do-gooders" lie). But they just couldn't perform and in the end were a complete bust on all fronts.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

This season has been pretty solid in my opinion. I really like the Dubai episode. I've only seen pictures of what they've done over there and it's really quite remarkable. Probably the only place in the middle east that I'd ever want to visit.

Dubai looks like Vegas without booze and hookers.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

One of the Poker Girls has a blog and says that because they failed to complete the challenge they got a 24 hour penalty.

Once the 30 minutes were up and the Yellow team were able to check in, the girls were eliminated.

So it wasn't going to be a non-elimination leg.

So if it had been a non-elimination leg they would have just started 24 hours later? What would be the point unless one of the other teams could not complete a challenge on the next leg. 24 hours cannot be made up.

I'm glad they're out considering the guys gave them the number of the bells. Although the guys would never have been able to figure out the gold.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

It was such BS to just give them the answer, I was really disappointed in the gay duo.

And their rationale was awful: its one thing to work together on a challenge like he did with the team from San Diego. It's another thing to just give them the right answer.

Here's the other thing with the bell counting challenge: the beauty queen was a moron and was so far off...what prevented her from just upping the number?

I wondered about that. Could she have left the room and come right back with another number? She was way off to begin with so it would have taken her awhile to do it that way. I doubt there was a limit on chances.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

I don't know why they brought back the hay rolling challenge. I hate the luck based roadblocks. I kind of wished someone would have done the Viiking Rune challenge that looked pretty cool but the demolition was probably the faster challenge.

The good thing seems to be at least 2 teams, Brothers and father son have seen the show before, unless in the clue it mentions on a past season one team did this challenge for 8 hours. i also hope this is a non elimination because to be eliminated because you can't find the right bale of hay would suck.

Well it was a non-elimination leg and I agree that it had to be, as a purely luck-based challenge.

Not a particularly compelling episode this week. I don't know if I'd choose anything other than blowing stuff up, so I wasn't surprised everyone did. This leg didn't showcase anything unique about Sweden between the amusement park, blast pit, and farm. One of the most interesting things I noticed was that there was someone riding a horse in the background of the hay-rolling thing, and it made me wonder how popular that is there.

Nice to see the Globetrotters take a win.

Hopefully Estonia will provide a more colorful background. Looks like it starts to get a bit nasty too.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

They're going to Talin, one of the prettiest cities on the planet. That alone will be worth something.

It had to be non-elimination; the utter crap-shoot-it-tude of the "switchback" assured that (and it was confirmed when Phil didn't immediately come out to the last team).

I'm not a fan of the luck based roadblock and this one puts the leading teams at a disadvantage. It's great for the later teams to show up and have many of the bails already rolled out.

I will be surprised if the father/son get through next week. I would prefer to see the trotters leave next.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

Thoughts of last week's episode?

The San Diego team finally showed some bad karma not calling a taxi for the yellow team who let them take the cab.

I'm baffled that the yellow team has kept going. I think they are next to go home.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

I thought this week's episode was okay. The coming together at the ferry was kind of lame. The Trotters had almost a 2 hour headstart which vanished. Obviously father and son spent a lot of time looking to get the the tower because it seemed as if several teams had a bit of a problem with volleyball and slingshots, either that or the cab driver got lost. I am guessing Ms. America will be out next unless one of the other 3 teams screw up and then it will be an interesting final 3 to the finish.
