The Amazing Race: Season 15

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

Great episode last night. They had Golem's, Budvar and Absinthe. Also managed to work Charles Bridge into the episode. Good showing of Prague. Really bad move by the Trotters taking the penalty how many 5 letter words can their be and the brother even gave him the F.

Meghan and Chayne are the team to beat, I really hope the brothers don't win. Other than the husband in Ms. America don't really care about any of the 6 remaining. Don't like the brothers, Ms. America seems very high maintenance and Meghan and Chayne are just there.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

I'm rooting even harder against the brothers now. After agreeing to work with the Trotters on the challenge, he only gave up one letter? I'm surprised he got out of that room alive. Switch the outcome and he would have been crying like a little girl if Big Easy had tried to welch on him. Showed what a truly no class team they are. If you can't honor your word when you give it, you aren't worth spit.

Go Meghan & Cheyne. I guess.

24 possibilities if you assume the brother was honest when he gave you the letter F as the first letter (4x3x2x1). He knew he had the letters right at least since they determined that when they were working together.

If it took him 2 minutes each try to fill out the form and have it rejected, he still should have been out of there in under an hour.

If you are unsure if the brother lied about F being the first letter, than you are up to 120 possibilities (5x4x3x2x1).

That challenge reminded me a lot of the watch time being the combination for the suitcase or whatever it was.

Not really sure if I'll "cheer" for a team to win. I did like the flashbacks of the globetrotters on the race, those clips made it look like they had a lot of fun racing.

You're absolutely right, but let's face it, as much as I loved the Globetrotters they weren't exactly the sharpest tools in the shed (particularly Big Easy).

Based on how they quit on the challenge, I am guessing they talked about it after the suitcase incident and decided that they'd just take the penalty if they ran into something like that again. Watching them take the penalty was the most frustrating thing I've ever seen on the Race.

Teams that have fun racing are the most likeable ones, year in and year out. BJ and Ryan (the "hippies") from a few seasons ago were probably my all time favorites. I am hoping they bring back the Globetrotters if they do another all-stars season.

It's annoying when you get to the finals of a reality show and there's no one you really want to win. Barbie & Ken are the prototypical competent, bland team - definitely the favorites to win, but they just aren't likeable with their mechanical efficiency.. They have all the tools, strong physically, and they don't fight.

I'll be interested to see how far ahead Barbie & Ken were in this leg - they made it look like it wasn't much of a contest. I wonder if it'll be enough to get an earlier flight to Vegas than the other teams.

Have to agree with you on the likable teams, I always root for the teams who seem to be on the show to do the race and have an adventure not become a "star". The show has deteriorated, they went from having a couple wanna be stars per season to mostly wanna be stars.

There is no way that Ken and Barbie will get a flight out ahead, Mr and Ms. America may end up on a later flight than Ken and Barbie and the Brothers, they seem to be several hours behind.

I hate the brother team. Just about the most classless vile teams in Amazing Race history.

And its absolute BS they didn't have to re-do the Golem challenge with it having a broken arm. What a joke. What's the point of inspecting the thing if you accept it with a broken fricken arm?

My initial reaction was to say, nah, they're not the most vile team ever. But the more I think about it, the harder it is for me to think of someone worse. The only other team that comes to mind was Joe and Bill (team Guido) from Season 1, I remember them physically pushing another team out of the way so they'd miss a flight.

Every time a team does a bad thing in the history of Amazing Race they tend to feel bad about it later, or at least apologize.

They show no remorse. In the first few episodes they kept on talking about how they were good Christian gay guys.

They're gay. Maybe they're Christian. But they're not good people. They're scum.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

Pretty uneventful finale last night. I have always been in favor of a 2 leg finale with the final 3 teams to make for a more exciting finale. Cheyne and Meghan are better than the brothers winning. I thought they were sunk when they went to the wrong hotel but the brothers must have taken a long time with the poker chip challenge. I thought karma was going to pay back the brothers by giving them a crappy cab driver at the beginning of the leg.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

** spoiler alert **

So Barbie & Ken won. Not terribly surprising. They were the clear leaders the whole way through and were blandly competent throughout the whole thing. I guess I wasn't really pulling for them was because of their complete lack of anything interesting about them. They didn't fight, they didn't get tired and they weren't easily frustrated. I think that's one of the central problems with the show: the format rewards boring teams.

Anyway, the final episode was OK, I think Vegas is a boring destination - after heading through Prague and Tallinn and Cambodia, they end up in a hotel in Vegas. I missed the typical ending in an interesting US destination- dog-sledding in Alaska, for example.

I am glad the brothers didn't win. In the end I would have been OK with Miss America winning too - that team was annoying (yin/yang, her tendency to flip out) but at least they ran with integrity.

The storyline of how Miss America's family wouldn't accept her husband entertained me. When Phil said, "Do you think this is going to change how your family perceives your relationship for the better?" and she gave some bland answer, all I could think of was, if I was her family I'd be bull**** that she just spent several weeks on national TV calling them all racists.

I'm already looking forward to the next Race. I wonder if they'll fire it up in February again.

Agreed. Boring finale. I prefer the "where have we been" quiz to counting poker chips.

I got bored with it. You're right they will probably be pretty mad. All racists tend to get mad when you call them out.

I was on board with Miss America winning when the episode started but her temper tantrums almost pushed her as far down as the brothers. Of course the brothers were rock bottom so I'm not sure what would have pushed anyone that low.

Agreed. I like the quizes or some kind of other mental task.

Counting out the million in poker chips in Vegas is a cool idea, but boring and simple for a final task.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

I like that the San Diego team won, but I am annoyed they didn't have a two leg finale and some quiz challenge. The counting chips was lame. No ability to truly separate yourselves from anyone else.

I honestly believe that because the gay brothers stole the Yellow team's cab, they changed the end, because when the gay brothers and globetrotters checked in they said welcome to the final 3. When they found out why the Yellow team finished last they changed it to a non elimination leg. Maybe that's why the final leg wasn't a two parter.

Boring yes, simple apparently not. Two failed to get it the first try.

I also missed the quiz at the end. I think Cheynne and Meghan would have won anyway.

Interesting thought. Haven't cabs been stolen in previous seasons? I don't see why they would change the race for the Miss America team.

It was interesting to see the Miss America team and the Bros make up at the airport. In reality, if the Bros hadn't screwed over the Globetrotters with the word scramble, Miss America wouldn't have made it to the final three.

Globetrotters could never have counted out the chips anyway. :p

Agreed. I think they were hoping that the Mandalay Bay death spiral would freak somebody into a coma.

I like the challenges where you have to remember the whole race. It's a nice way to wrap up the season, too.

Yes, but that task that cost the brothers one million dollars. One did not like how the other one was doing his part and then they started bickering and telling each other to shut up (like for the 4th time this race) and did not focus on the task.

I don't like those challenges because they are completely different from everything else they have been doing. It's a nice review for the viewer, but requires a competency that is never tested during the season. I say keep doing the types of challenges that you've been doing, just make them harder and have enough of them to last two episodes. Which they won't do since they want the final three teams to all finish within minutes of each other.
