The Amazing Race: Season 15

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

The older team definitely picked the harder detour, they seemed well behind after picking the spotting challenge over moving the animals. I'm liking the team with the two friends Zev & justin, father & Son and the Globetrotters. Don't like the lawyers, poker players and the brothers.

See though, the child's play one would have made them both have heart attacks before getting to the second balloon. What BearPaw said with regards to them trying to scramble it themselves.

Pretty good episode, I think the lawyer team's time is limited. I like Meghan and Cheyne, and Matt/Gary the most. Globetrotters and Zev/Justin are close behind. Mika and Canaan could be a darkhorse too, they haven't been getting much TV Time.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

I am pulling for the Globetrotters. They seem to have it all: they're fit, smart, and taking it all in with a sense of humor. I just hope the "I'm doing this for my dead dad" thing doesn't overcome them and/or make them insufferable.

Gary and Matt, the father/son from Montana, are surprisingly strong. Father/son teams tend to do well until the competition picks up midseason, so I am expecting them to fade.

Meghan/Chayne look like contenders but I'm not picking up on any reason to like or dislike them at this point. They're pretty bland, just like the Mika/Canaan team. (hockeyplayer1015, Mika/Canaan not having a lot of screen time makes me think they make an early exit.)

Miss America and her "team Zebra" and yin/yang hat are really irritating.

Finally, Lance/Keri - is it me or does that guy look like Jon Favreau? Absolutely grating, I want them gone asap. Until then, I can't even think of them as the villians - they are too inept.

The poker players will make it to the last few legs because they are the most compelling bad guys.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

Zev and Jason are great. One of my favorite teams ever. I hope they're not the team that loses their passports and are out of the race.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

Zev and Jason were a very likeable team and it was a shame that they left the way they did.

Did you catch the gay brothers trying to mislead another team as they entered the hotel? Add them to my list of villains.

It looked like the weather was a consideration in this leg - anyone who's been to Cambodia knows that it's hotter than Hades, if Hades had the humidifier on full blast. In the monkey challenge you could see that a lot of people had sweat through their clothes.

More of that in Dubai next week! The opening features Egypt, Corcovado and the Great Wall, and we know they go to Estonia, so sounds like a lot of km traveled this year. I couldn't tell if the waterfall was Vic Falls or Iguazu, either could be an offshoot of Cairo or Rio. Vic Falls would be more interesting, there's more there.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

I missed it last night but I think I'm glad I didn't have to see them lose their passports. They were easily at the top of the teams I was rooting for.

I did catch that. What goes around comes around. I was glad they came in second after Zev and Jason.

I also noticed Meghan/Cheyne tell Brian/Ericka where the scarfs were.

Too bad the poker players dodged another bullett and boy, is Lance a tool!

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

It was a good "discriminator" week for determining which teams are good, which are evil, which are strong and which are weak. The Poker Players and Roid Lawyer are evil-weak. The Incessant Virgins started out looking potentially evil-strong but are just neutral-weak. Jungle Fever (get over it already, you two) and the Gay Bros are neutral-strong. The Trotters are good-strong and I can't see rooting for anybody else at this point, since I can't even remember any other teams.

Now that Zev and Jason are gone, the Poker Players are the next Darwin target. If I had to bet it will be the Trotters, Gay Bros and JF in the final three.

Funniest moment of the episode,

Phil: Have you checked your backpacks thoroughly?
Zev/Jason: No, we haven't.
Phil: Uhhh... you might want to do that.

Meghan/Cheyne are good-strong. The son and father have run well also. I would prefer these two teams above the Bros and JF.

I was really hoping they would find the passport in a pocket after Phil said that.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

How about the picture of the local royal - some queen or something? Do you mean Jackie Kennedy??!

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

Kennedy's election will be 50 years old in 2010. The Kennedys are fading from our national lexicon, and although I found it appalling that so many people couldn't ID her, I wasn't terribly surprised. Particularly since being vapid is a badge of honor amongst a lot of young people nowadays.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

I enjoyed that when one of the couples asked a native "who is this in the picture" he said "oh, that's the king" referring to the figure from his country. It would be a little like holding up a photo of JFK and some visiting dignitary to some guy on the National Mall and asking them the same question.

Somebody mistaking Elizabeth II for Jackie O, though -- must've made the Queen's day. ;)

Are they the Barbie and Ken couple? I forgot about them. They're strong, too. The pink-haired son is going to eventually screw up his team.

Yes, thats Meghan and Cheyne. This season teams are easily defined by nicknames.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

For the life of me I cannot believe that teams lose their passports, I believe this is the second or third time it has happened. Invest in a money belt to keep your passport under your clothes around your waist. You only need it at airports and border stops, no reason to have it somewhere where it will easily fall out. They got a great cab driver and ran a fabulous leg until. :o I didn't think they would win but thought they would go farther. Loved the look on some of the women in the markers faces when the teams came up and grabbed them, especially the one the Globetrotters were chasing down.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

Crap. What a lame ending. I wonder if they ever found out where the passport went.

They were on the Saturday morning show. I can't remember where they said they went but they lost it when Jason pulled out a flashlight. Apparently, they found it after it was too late. They knew after they searched their belongings they didn't have enough time to backtrack to find it. The show didn't make it look that way.

They went into a church or similar building near the monkey challenge mistakenly, and he went for the flashlight because it was dark, and he figured out later that must have been what happened.
