The Amazing Race: Season 15

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

Hurrah the demise of Fran Drescher. She was excruciating to watch and her husband was worse.

Seems like a fairly even field this year, with a lot of variability in where teams are placing. I am also surprised by the level of cooperation between them all.

The blondie girl's freakout about potentially having to do something atop the giant building was pretty entertaining. She's a 'fraidy cat - and my wife put it best, what are you doing on the Amazing Race if you don't expect your comfort zone to be pushed?

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

Glad that Lance is gone, so so episode this week. I liked seeing the indoor ski resort in Dubai though.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

I really really really hate the women's poker team.

Stupid missing passport not only took out my favorite team it kept around my least favorite.

To be honest, with so many pickpockets and what not, you should have your passport duct taped to your person or something, or have production crews holding onto those.

And stupid yellow team stop helping everyone! ARGH! Because its not Karma for helping random other teams out!

Good thing the m*******s are gone, but please please knock out the poker girls.

And WHY ARE YOU ON A SHOW IF YOU ARE AFRAID OF EVERYTHING EXCEPT LEARNING (WHICH YOU JUST AVOID?)

(Obviously talking about Myka, she's hot but scared of everything.)

The poker girls have caught a few breaks, first with the non-elimination leg and then with the passport situation. They are not a strong team and will be gone soon.

The poker players shouldn't last much longer. They're directionally challenged almost as bad as Lance (the biggest tool in Amazing race history). What's up with breaking water pots and wanting to kick and smash the snowman.

The black couple that won a few seasons ago played the good karma card. Didn't the husband treat and pay people well nearly to the point of not having enough money for the legs? What goes around comes around. It's not a bad idea as long as it doesn't jeopardize yourself. Yellow team was done the water challenge before everyone but was last one down the hill to look for the snowman. Lucky they found the snowman without looking long and ended up in second place. Good karma? I don't think they will get away with going out of their way to help another team later in the race.

Globetrotters were another team to find the snowman very quickly. I'm surprised people didn't just go ahead and build a snowman. It's a pretty simple task.

I was gald to see team malibu get the first place prize.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

For those who have watched the show closely over the seasons and have better memories than I do - what has the higher rate of success - going with the skill or doing challenge or going with the luck challenge?

As a non-contestant I don't get going with the luck choice unless it was a challenge that I knew I was definitely crap at. Is the luck choice popular because you can then just blame luck if you get eliminated as opposed to being upset with yourself? Or a matter of the confidence level of people who take part in the challenge who feel naturally lucky?

I personally don't know why anyone picks the luck challenge. My opinion has always been at least with the other one you know what you have to do in order to complete it and get it done. While in the luck challenge who knows? I also always wonder, like Sunday how many snowmen are there in the pile? Are there only 8 one for each team? If in that case you are the 6th or 7th team to show up you are really screwed trying to find it if a couple are out of the pile. In past seasons a lot of teams have abandoned the luck challenge to do the other one, like several teams did on Sunday.

I noticed that too. I thought, "that's not your property to destroy" and then he kicked over the one he did find water in once he was finished with it. It just seemed rude.

I'd say "glad to see them go" but I find that having a team to hate can make the show more entertaining. Who doesn't enjoy a good train wreck?

As for the luck vs. skill challenges, I'm guessing a lot of teams choose the luck challenge because if you do somehow get lucky you can get a lead over the other teams. It comes down to, would you rather gamble or work?

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

Just got around to watching this weeks episode as I was driving Sunday night (for those who miss episodes, they are on hulu!)

Finally Lance and his Long Island/Boston hybrid accent wife are gone. I won't miss them other than to laugh at them.

While they got lucky in being the first/only team to go for the fast forward, team malibu is still a strong team IMO, and, well... she's fun to watch too:o

This could be an exciting stretch of episodes to the finish, as most of the teams remaining seem fairly equal, although I also expect either Mika/Caanan or the poker girls to be gone next.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

the episode is just starting and I'm already laughing at the preview of Mika crying.

It's a slide, it should be fun!

She was pitiful, how can anybody be that afraid of water, it isn't even over her head. Probably the worst way to be eliminated, I think even worse than losing your passport. Pretty ho hum challenges this week, I think the gold challenge was the quicker challenge if you were good at math or had a calculator though without the poker girls I am not sure if the brother would have figured out "the exchange rate".

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

The tough thing with the exchange rate was being quick enough with the gold. Did anybody catch, "I wish I was naked right now"? As soon as the Globetrotters showed up at the top of the slide, Mika and Canaan were done. There was no way they would win the footrace to Phil. That said, I thought their trash talk might be what would push her over the edge, so to speak. You know, "I'm going to show those knuckleheads!" and - zoop! down the slide. Without knowing what the challenge was, she had psyched herself out. You can't win that way. Team Malibu are real close to a similar meltdown, IMO, and apparently the beauty queen is about to have a moment of her own.

One of the brothers mentioned he couldn't figure out the exchange rate here, I think he thought he would have to convert it twice gold to Dubai money then to dollars without realizing the price of gold was in dollars.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

The best part of the gold challenge was how Miss America gave up because they couldn't do the math, then the Globetrotters showed up and just asked for a calculator. Awesome. The Globetrotters also overcame a bad taxi ride, one of the Race's best wildcard factors.

I also enjoyed watching people try to row.

Looks like Europe next week.

Wasn't it Mika with the naked comment? Mika didn't like water and was afraid of heights. Too bad she psyched herself out because reality is its 5 seconds and its over.

Beauty queen team can only go so far with him doing all the work. She doesn't like cold, heat, water, heights........

Surprised with the mental block from the globtrotters. Not sure how he misunderstood reading a watch. Heckling Mika was unnecessary.

I still like Malibu and the father/son teams the best.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

Anyone else say "So do I" when Mika said she wished she was naked?

Lame way to go out........she had to know there would be some heights and some water on the show.

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

As beautiful as Mika is, she is absolutely gorgeous btw, she is stupid. Muslim time? Come on!

He shouldn't have tried to force her down the slide but come on. Why would you go on the Amazing Race if you were scared of heights and water?

Anyways, Erin found the Globetrotters trash talk awful- I found it awesome.

Psychological warfare is some of the best stuff on the show. The gay guys and the poker girls keep basically working together as a foursome, so why not cheat within the rules?

I love how the Globetrotters just asked for the calculator!

Re: The Amazing Race: Season 15

He. Couldn't. Tell. Time.

But what put the nail in their coffin for me was the heckling of Mika. That's cute when it's trash talk, but dealing with somebody who was deathly afraid was garbage, particularly when they were home free anyway. I'd be on the lookout for seriously bad karma.

OTOH, Mika's boyfriend knows where he stands now. You can't marry somebody who will fold like that -- wait until you get into life's real problems.

Now that the Globies are dead to me, I don't have a team. Father-son, I guess.
