The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

Re: The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

..you don't think Harvard is a better school than Northeastern? I know you guys are stupid, but...

Of course Harvard is a better school than us. That's why we chanted it at them. :D (I wasn't there last night but this was common when I was a student) :D

Re: The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

After watching the late game last night, I am left wondering how it seems BU has some Beanpot God looking over them. Examples include a replay that resulted in a "no-goal" when most thought a goal was certain, back to back power plays late in the third, BC stuffed on a breakaway as the penalty expired. As a BC fan, I was shocked to see a power play in overtime in their favor. I sat at the edge of my seat praying to not give up a shorty instead of getting a power play goal.

It's almost like the Red Sox....just waiting to them to blow (or for BU to win) it.

Re: The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

Yes he was. Escobedo had his skates turned horizontally and was stopping. I'm positive of this because I thought Muse decked him to prevent from getting snowed. But he was absolutely stopping and Muse went at his head/shoulders unprovoked. Not a very relevant play though in the grand scheme of the game.

edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuY5ARZAhjk start from 4:05, plainly obvious Escobedo was not running Muse. If anything, the third trailing BC guy pushed him.

Trailing player was Wey and he was not going to let Escobedo run Muse. Muse, with hands extended protecting himself, and Wey positioned himself to get in between Muse and Escobedo. Could have been a lot worse if Wey had hit him from behind or if Escobedo had not angled off the goal face. All said and done really a non-event.

Re: The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

You were too busy wasting your time chanting it at Harvard last night. And us last year, and the year before that.

Last night was making fun of that dumb chant. The joke is, everyone knows Harvard is the best school in the nation. And who is "us?"

Also, I got in to BU anyway so I'm just like spare me.

The one I find obnoxious is the "what's the matter with [school]? [school] sucks!" - seriously? that's all you can come up with?

Worst chant ever. Not sure why it has continued for so long now. If any BC students read this, please end that awful chant.

My friends and I stayed for the BU vs. BC game and we discussed how bad and generic this chant was every time the Superfan section started it.

I'll add that when our fans counted down every minute against Harvard my friends and I were like "shutup!" Not only is it tacky and not funny after about 2 minutes, it's Harvard, we didn't triumph, we handled business.

I'm a BC student, and I've never been a huge fan of that chant. I try to participate in it as little as possible, especially when people start a "What's the matter with Lowell/Providence/etc." BC students have been obsessed with "other team sucks" chants the past two years, and it's kind of obnoxious. There seemed to be far more negative chants (aka BU Sucks/Sucks to BU/Safety School) than there were chants cheering for BC last night and even in last year's Beanpot final vs. BU. Cheer for your team please; they're #1 in the country. One of my favorites is doing the "We are...BC" chant to try and see how many times we have to say it before the BU/NU section cleverly yells "SUCKS!!!!!" after we say BC. The "Sucks to BU" chant is always fun (thanks NU) but after it's been chanted for the 5th time in the 1st period it kind of loses its luster. I just hope we don't devolve to the point of chanting "BU Sucks" when we play Merrimack.

Better than BU's "song" against opponents completely irrelevant to BC at least. Sucks to BU is fun if you do it at the end of the game I agree (when we are lucky enough to beat BU...sadly).

Trust me, people in our section were trying to start some chants, but not all of them were able to catch on because we were all the way in 323 (one of the farthest ends of the BC section) and people all the way on the other side apparently couldn't hear us or would try to start chants on their own simultaneously. It was kind of a mess at the beginning of the game. Though, everyone seemed to have no problem hearing the "Safety School" and "BU Sucks" chants, no matter where they were started from...

More nostalgic for the thumping we gave bc in the first round in 09.... ah happy memories.
