The 4th Global War on Terror - Deja vu all over again!

Re: The 4th Global War on Terror - Deja vu all over again!

Fishy's under the delusion that Saddam trucked his WMD's to Syria, even so far as claiming to have seen the tire tracks personally! One has to wonder how the Bush admin missed this, since towards the end Dick Cheney was practically running down leads personally in an effort to find some, any, link to the reason why they supposedly had to launch the Iraq war.

Hmmm. Considering we had a fleet of satellites watching Iraq, he must have driven them via the massive underground tunnels that we just never happened to find when we occupied the country. Also, I love the notion of fighting a war by sending your weapons to another country. That is a genius move.

Re: The 4th Global War on Terror - Deja vu all over again!

Time to up the dosage.

That's exactly what Obama's spies want me to do, judging by the code they tap in my phone line whenever I call someone, and the patterns they make in the clouds. I'm not falling for it.

Re: The 4th Global War on Terror - Deja vu all over again!

Geezer, I'm with ya! In fact, I'm going to call your bluff. IF the country, and not just yourself and fellow knucks', are pining for a return of GWB and his policies, I fully expect to see him hitting the campaign trail in 2016! I would also think given his apparent and previously unknown popularity that we'll be seeing whoever the GOP nominee is harken back to his term in office as evidence of how they would conduct themselves in office.

So tell me, what are the odds of that happening in your humble opinion? :D :D :D

I am definitely NOT hoping for a return of 9/11; you misunderstood. I'm just saying that it's a good thing we had the right person in office when it happened. Nobody wants a return to those days.
Other than defense, he was far too liberal for normal times... witness the explosion of spending, etc. Sure, he was a heck of a lot better than Obama, but so were 40 something other presidents. :p It's not saying much.

No backtacking geezer, you've exposed yourself (!) as a Dubya fan. Wear it with pride. :D

Regarding Syria, I'm amused at the disappointment out of the right that the international plan put forth by Russia might work. You can almost sense a betrayal that their pal Putin, who only last week was a hero for standing up to Obama, is now a traitor to the cause. You knucks' should take better care of who you choose to get into bed with. ;)

Not sure if you're saying that perverting 9/11 into Iraq was a good thing...

Regardless, you've mis-defined liberal here. There are many, many examples that say that spending is not a liberal or conservative approach. Someone always misdefines W every few months. He was a solid conservative. Based on the polls, liberals voted against him and conservatives for him. On the issues has him pegged:

George W Bush

..and except for immigration reform, he'd be further to the right.

I'm honestly confused about this latest accusation. Weren't you the one pushing for a war, as long as it was started by a (D)? or am I wrong. I never was such a cheerleader. You might be referring to other members of "the right" here? Or what?

edit: I haven't been paying much attention to who wants to do what in Syria, so I could be off base. I do remember the irony of seeing someone who had been opposed to Iraq trying to turn all hawkish based on Obama's whims.

I think you could hear the sigh of relief from Obama anywhere in the world, Looks like Putin has saved him from the Red Line and also looks like Congress won't have to go on record for or against lobbing a few cruise missiles.

Wow. Holy rewriting of history Batman.

He supported and passed the two most liberal pieces of legislation since the 60's while in office. NCLB (No Child Left Behind) and Medicare Prescription "D". The only thing "conservative" about W is his social policies and his psychotic neo-conservative war mongering.

It's been hashed over enough here, but suffice to say that this characterization of GW Bush as a "conservative" president completely ignores fiscal and economic issues, which is a pretty big area to miss. It assumes that social issues is the only thing that matters to anyone.

Yes, many people have already commented on how strange it is that many who support Obama opposed Iraq. To further the example, they supported Clinton in the Balkans. Now just reverse it for many Republicans and you have the same thing. Whether you support or oppose military action often depends on who the president is. Imagine that.

What you bring up is something righties always do, which is that you subscribe to a brand of conservatism that doesn't exist. Conservativism always ends up following in practice the exact fiscal agenda that Bush did, which is tax cuts for the wealthy + big defense spending financed by deficits. Happened under Reagan as well. Romney ran on the same platform. If you consider yourself some sort of Eisenhower Republican, okay I guess, but I'm not sure too many people even know what that means, and even fewer than that remember Ike's Presidency (for which you would have to be at least 60 years old).

Re: The 4th Global War on Terror - Deja vu all over again!

Saw the big news on facebook where the fine upstanding patriots of the 2 million bikers rally in Washington is being shut down in honor of Obama's pet project the "million muslim march" on 9/11. This is one place where he is willing to put chemical weapons to use, defending the terrorists over Americans!

heh he. I was counting on you to come around. Now you replace the American flag with the Confederate for your avatar, order up your "Official President's Enemy List" membership card, stop shaving, and you're just about all set.

 the muslims have appropriated the Confederate flag? That's gonna make the next trip down South to see the wife's family reaaaally interesting.

:D

Tweet from WSJ: Syria finally admits they have chemical weapons.

Story from NBC News

A good sign IMHO. Tough for anybody to block a UN resolution when you come out and admit you have weapons that are universally scorned by the international community. While I'm sure this is being revealed at Russia's behest, it makes me think this is a wee bit more serious effort by Russia (for self-serving reasons of course) than it appeared at first.

Anything extending beyond your ruthlessly enforced "cone of ignorance" is to be dismissed or ignored. Too many "historical facts" get in the way.

Re: The 4th Global War on Terror - Deja vu all over again!

I can summarize the current page thusly:

"No you are!"

So Obama is going to punish the Syrian government by talking them to death?

Seriously??

:(
