Yeah, I'm really feeling sorry you have to pay estate taxes on your family farm right now...stay classy, san diego
Lucky for me, I don't care if some idiot lib has sympathy for me. My goal was awareness, not sympathy.

It is really precious how all of the lefties talk about guns like they actually have a ****ing clue what they're talking about. Don't try to kid us, as soon as we start reading your idiotic drivel, it is obvious you are simply ****ing clueless. OP's longer post earlier (Post 73) was spot-on.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 2 - Amensty for Some, Miniature AR-15s for Others...

Done a lot of hunting, haven't you?

I would love to hear how hunting is easier by firing every second and dealing with continuous recoil. Snipers, SWAT, etc take single well placed shots...and do NOT fire as many rounds as possible...to take out a single target at range.

The amount of ignorance on this question of "automatic"weapons is staggering. So you're far from being alone in apparantly not knowing the difference between automatic and semi-automatic. None of the weapons in Feinstein's bill, I repeat, none of them are automatic. Because automatic weapons have been illegal and unavailable to the public for 75 years or more. The AR-15 for instance, is the civilian version of the M-16 and it can only fire one round for one trigger pull. It cannot fire on full auto (or in 3 round bursts). And none of the other so-called "assault" weapons can either. And just as the AR-15 can fire one round for one trigger pull, so can most "legitimate" hunting rifles (which also fire the identical ammunition and have exactly the same killing power). And all of these weapons, even with limits on magazine capacities, can get off 60 rounds a minute easily in the hands of a reasonably competent shooter. I fear this blurring of the distinction as between automatic and semi-automatic may, in some cases, be deliberate. Designed to influence lofo types.

Are you done with your ramble yet?

I will repeat, because you obviously didn't read. Ban weapons...that add value to mass killings and don't to other typical usages...one weapon at a time.

Are you trying to compare a sniper to your average hunter?

Awareness that you're a walking stereotype for today's gop - a self-entitled wealthy gun nut with the mantra: "Fark you, I've got mine"? You've accomplished that in spades.

I'll slow it down. I'm asking...isn't the goal of a hunter nearly always to kill a single target at range? That's the goal of a sniper.

If it is the goal of a hunter to kill at range, what makes one think that firing 60 shots taken in the face of recoil will kill a pheasant at 50 yards better than a single well aimed shot? The best in the business of killing a single target at range, the sniper, doesn't think so.

A single target? Hell no. Mow them down. Deer are pests, so pile them up. We get 6 tags a year, when a group of three run by, we sure as hell don't only try to kill one of them.

You're trying to paint a picture that if someone is hunting with an AR-15 they're just going to fire as many shots as possible with the hopes of hitting something. I think you'll find that most hunters would prefer to take out their target with one well placed shot. However, snipers are much better shooters than your average hunter. The probability of a sniper missing is a lot less than most hunters.

Is it legal to hunt with rpg and hand grenades? Seems like you wouldn't have to be as accurate then.

That's the point all along. Multiple quick shots add no value to the hunting activity. And if not, why should hunters or gun owner really care if one can fire many rounds quickly. Multiple shots does make it easier to kill dozens of targets at close range though.

Although diversity is good.

Your plan for prisoners matches my plan for extremists. Put them all on an island and arm them with sporks.

Mookie feels it would be cruel and unusual to mix murderers with drug dealers. Or rapists with shoplifters.
Have a murders jail and let them survive
Have a rapists jail and let them have at it.

You are completely clueless when it comes to hunting.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 2 - Amensty for Some, Miniature AR-15s for Others...

Feel free to enlighten me how you would learn that from any post I've made.
How can you possibly say that it adds no value to a hunter to shoot multiple times quickly? That is a completely asinine statement, and it proves that you simply don't know what you're talking about. Hey, guess what? Even great shots don't hit everything they shoot at! If a deer is running, it is not an easy shot, if you miss, it adds a helluva lot of value to be able to shoot again! 90% of the deer I see are running, good luck taking your time and taking a "well placed shot", as you put it, when the deer is running and you have about 2 seconds to get a shot off. If I had a single-shot gun, I'd have about a quarter of the deer that I have taken in my life. That is just the way it is. Hunters benefit GREATLY from being able to shoot multiple times at an animal. Do you think only one pheasant is jumped at a time? Or that deer don't travel in groups of 2-4? Seriously?

I loved the part about the sniper rifle and the pheasant. :D

(many of us own a "fowling piece" aka shotgun for bird hunting, and use rifles for other game)

But if you can hit a pheasant with a 30.06, more power to you.

edit: Also, i don't use a rifle for deer either. I hunt in a restricted area, that is shotgun only. So I have a .12 gauge shotgun with a rifled slug barrel, and I shoot sabot slugs. Accurate out to about 150 yards. It is a semiautomatic, that I haven't taken the duck plug out of, so I only have 3 shots, that I can get off in about 3 seconds. OHHHHH NOOOOOOS!!!!

We really don't need a round a second for hunting or defending our homes from criminals.

Thankfully I haven't needed a second shot on a deer yet, but there are certainly instances where a follow-up shot would be needed quickly. For example, you miss by 6" and hit the shoulder. That deer will run for miles on 3 legs and suffer a lot. In order to put it down you are going to need get off a second shot quickly before its gets to cover.

As far as defending homes, tell the women in the story below that you only need one shot.

Woman defends kids from intruder. Shoots him 5 times before he gets away

Deer can't be that hard to kill. We nearly hit them with a car twice a week when coming up the hill to the apartment. They just stand there staring at us.

2 things:
City deer are not the same as country deer. City deer are used to people and cars much more than country deer. And people frown upon us shooting their city deer, because they're afraid we're going to shoot their kid or their dog or some other BS.

and

Deer in general don't get afraid of vehicles that are moving, at least from what I can tell. As soon as you stop and open the door, they take off. So this would only be helpful if you're road hunting, which is very illegal, I think, everywhere.

Also, and I swear this is true, they'll treat you a LOT more spooky if you're out with a gun planning to shoot one vs. out for just a walk or a run.
I always imagine deer to have a secret calendar posted somewhere with the hunting seasons highlighted in red.

Would there even be anything left to eat afterward? or would you just be left picking up scattered pieces of pheasant flesh from here and there.....
