Something tells me I don't want to look up any of those things. It's like when a couple weeks ago a young person mentioned something about "Harlem style dancing" or whatever to me and I made the mistake of looking on youtube.
Rover almost made a good point, which is that the major political parties in this country are completely corrupt money machines that will say and do anything to gain more money and power for themselves, and it's time we all stopped supporting them but instead vote for individual candidates for office. Of course, many people are only willing to see or talk about one side of that coin.
While "both sides do it" may in fact be true, they aren't necessarily doing it at the same time which is a point I think the lamestream media misses when it tries to call everything 50/50.
Back in the 80's the Dems had the same problem the GOP does now. It was a party too beholden to certain interests (peaceniks, unions, etc) who were no longer popular with the electorate at large even if they had been a couple of decades earlier. Sound familiar?
The problem facing the GOP however is unprecedented, in that nowadays you have more influence as a fringe lunatic hurling rhetorical bombs than you do as a member aquiring seniority and a leadership position. That's because there's a robust and well paying industry out there waiting for you if you do on the right wing media circuit. Even becoming a lobbyist isn't a lucrative as there's no fame in that and you actually have to work once in awhile. There's no left wing counterpart at this point. Rove and co aren't competing against the Democrats. They're competing against the alure of becoming a house hold name on cable TV or talk radio. That's awful tough to pass up it seems.
