The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

geezer I always cut you some slack because you're a few cans short of a six pack, but I'm about to give you a lesson. See, "Europe" is a continent made up of many countries. Of that continent, I'm speaking of Great Britain, a country governed by and under conservative principles. Pause for a moment and reread until you get up to speed.

Now, this conservative govt has launched an austerity plan that's put the country into a double digit recession, proving once again that conservative policies are total failures. I've kept this brief so that it will fit into your pea sized brain, but if you want more detail subscribe to my newsletter.

Once again, this assumption that world history began with Barack Obama's election has completely destroyed your credibility on any issue that has roots in more than the last four years. Believe it or not, neither the extensive structural problems of Europe in general nor Great Britain in particular have much of anything to do with the too-late response of the last few years. Your limited grasp of circumstance has blinded you to decades of history which led to the problems the current government is trying, too little and too late, to respond to.
The saddest thing about all this is that because you and your ilk, including the falsely worshipped "Nobel Prize" winners like Obama and Krugman have no grasp of history, the U.S. is doomed to follow THE SAME TRAGIC PATH that has just about destroyed Europe (and yes, the continent has a huge affect on the individual countries; but I'll school you on that concept another day). I've just about given up on educating you socio-political knuckledraggers (yes, I said it: and it's in response to your narrow and provincial view of the world) on the long-term consequences of short-term kneejerk reactionary "constant stimulus" policies of trillion dollar annual deficits. I'll just say that it's been done already overseas, and it's no surprise at all where Greece, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, etc. have ended up. They followed the wrongheaded lead of people who (don't) think just like you.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

i don't care what theirs is. and i'm not talking laws, i'm talking about the constitution to which the laws that are passed have to adhere to.
There is no formal written English Constitution (Wiki it, if you so desire). The Constitution is fluid - it's whatever Parliament says it is. Thus it does not take a constitutional amendment to make the Sovereign no longer Head of State - just an Act of Parliament.

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

conservatives believe the constitution is as it's written.
liberals believe that is can be adapted to fit how they think the writers would have adjusted to modern times.

Can you tell me where in the original Constitution it bans gay marriage?

The structural problem in Europe is that it has a unified currency without a unified government. Places like Spain and Greece would normally survive by devaluing their currency. But since they are members of the Euro zone, they cannot. Lacking that ability, they could also survive by being subsidized by the rest of the euro zone, like much of the South currently is in the U.S. But Germany and the rest don't want to do that. So instead, you get what's currently happening.

Also, big scary numbers are big and scary. I get that. But it's telling that you constantly refer to trillion dollar deficits without acknowledging we had about a $15.1 trillion economy in 2011 and a 15.4 trillion economy last year, assuming 2% growth. Saying the word trillion as much as possible when referring to the debt just means you're good at scare tactics. It's meaningless without context.

It doesn't -- it doesn't bar incest, bigamy or polygamy either. Doesn't bar gambling, drunkeness, anger, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony, either. Not a word about abortion.

Most of that stuff should be left to the several States. However, the States have been negligent in preserving their autonomy over the Federal power grabs.

It does invoke the death penalty for treason, though.

Don't tell Rover. I kind of enjoy having meaningless arguments with her where I pretend to know what I'm talking about. ;)

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

doesn't at all. any moron who stands up and talks about that being a conservative value is a moron.
The Constitution says black people are slaves and only men who own land can vote. It also says you have no right to bear arms, no right to privacy and the POTUS can serve as long as people keep voting for him. Those were all amendments added after the fact by dangerous liberals.

Nor about birth control. Condoms should be illegal again.

yes, the writers set up a process to amend the constitution. so see, there is a process.

liberals though want to read into the existing constitution (without amending it) to make up new laws. i'm all for adding amendments if something comes along that needs addressing where the folks who wrote it would never have imagined an event occurring. (because after all, they had already thought of that ;) )

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

I knew there was a catch to this new found constitutionalism.

Serves them well when it suits their purposes...

So when you said

you were complimenting us on being correct? :D

Re: The 2nd Term - Round 1 - Diving for Dollars

The original Constitution does? Where?

ya think thomas jefferson was able to comprehend a semi-automatic rifle? :D

i would have no problem to amend the 2nd amendment with a 28th. but it would involve adults coming up with something, which is grossly out of practice ;)
