The hated George W. Bush had an administration that was far more diverse in terms of race and gender than the one that preceded him, and certainly the one that followed him. While we may not agree with every word uttered by General Powell and Condi Rice (proud holder of 2 degrees from DU) you can't argue that they aren't distinguished Americans. Yet, stalwart lefty Harry Belafonte referred to them as "house n-words." From the Congressional Black Caucus, The Revs, the obscure state representative from Illinois and the rest of that claque? Crickets.
