Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

MC has a great web site that allows you to pick your seats. It even shows you what end of the ice Merrimack attacks twice.Very helpful.Down side is the $2.83 "convenience charge"/ticket that etix sticks on,a la TicketBastard.

My concern is the foot of snow that might fall into Friday AM.

Hate to rain on your already rainy parade but.....

 It's being called an atmospheric monster

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

FYI - Merrimack is offering $5.00 tickets for both games, along with Free tickets for Kids. Just print out the coupon and present it at the ticket window.

Well,"fudge".

Not only did I shell out $157 for tickets I could have had for $35,but it looks like I will have to snow-shoe over the Berkshires if I want to get to the games.

Somebody please shoot me...I won't press charges.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

An element of Maine's game that we have not mentioned much is faceoff's. Basically, Maine can't win one. What does it take to win a faceoff on a consistent basis? This is something this team has struggled with all year. I don't have the numbers but in my opinion I would be surprised if they won the majority of faceoff's in a game.

Dek can win them, thats why he was on the ice on most of the face offs in Maines zone against Lowell Saturday night. But you're right they aren't good in the circle

Are they too weak?.......afraid of the stick?.......or what?

How many goals were scored on Maine due to faceoff losses in the defensive zone? I have seen a couple in the last few games.

The dismal faceoffs are an under statement.

Sat with Lowell:
Maine - Faceoffs
## Player W L
House, Tanner 12 13
deKastrozza, David 6 5
Dee, Robby 4 5
Leidermark, Klas 4 5
Andersson, Theo 3 9
Swallow, Kevin 0 1
Totals......... 29 38

Fri with Lowell: ME Won 21 Loss 24

For the BU weekend Maine won 48 and loss 74. Looking back the last few games the only team we can win faceoffs with is UNH.

I'm not saying that's not bad... cuz it is. But you have to figure House, as the #1 center, is probably facing the best faceoff guy opponents have. 50% isn't TERRIBLE in that context.

Tanner House got the Dean Smith award, Congrats to him for succeeding on and off the ice.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Big game tonight, we need a win. Looks like their might be some question about Merrimacks Rookie(DeCosta) playing tonight. He missed tuesdays game with BC, be nice if he missed this weekends games also:D

On the Merrimack thread they were saying he missed because he was sick. Not sure if he's better yet or not. Didn't sound like it was injury related at all.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Dithering continues among City officials in Bangor concerning a new arena:

http://www.bangordailynews.com/detail/137753.html

At least they recognized the need to retain a "construction manager" to help them on the building side of the equation. Perhaps with that in place they can then focus on construction financing, operational issues and the last bits of the overall design concept (bigger than 5,500 +/-, amenities, etc.)

Curious as to why naming rights seem to be missing from the discussions there, but then again, I'm relying on reporters from the BDN (always a risky proposition -- right, Larry ?).

This is a first step in a very long process. Don't count on more than 5500 fixed seats though. The name will more than likely remain the same.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Here's an interesting article by Larry on Brian Flynn. I didn't realize he was a "walk on" recruit (does have scholarship now). Great story on how nobody wanted him. Maine coaching staff recognizes undeveloped talent.;) Or were they desperate for anyone at that point.:D Anyway, it sure has worked out well for Maine and Flynn.:)

How many other walk on recruits are there, or diamonds in the rough?
