Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

I agree. BU is, once again, on a major late season roll. I'm done with predictions. Who the h e l l knows what will happen. One thing I do know is that I wouldn't want to see BU in the 1/4's.

I would like to see Maine face BU again.:D After BU swept Maine two games in Boston, they will come to the Alfond and take Maine for granted. Maine on the other hand will be on a mission to throttle BU.;)

Maine is going to lose the rest of the way and miss the Hockey East playoffs. That way the preseason predictions will be accurate.

I will strongly disagree. BU WILL get home ice, leaving Maine and UMass to battle for the 4th slot. I (like the rest of Maine fans, I think) would like no part of the Terriers for the rest of this year. They are too scary when they're hot and confident.

Ideally, for the sake of pure unadulterated entertainment, Maine will finish 4th and UMassA 5th...which would give us 4 straight games with UMA at the Fond, and in that case, a prolonged war against the filthy mouthed bahstids from Amherst

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Fishman, the problem is that who is a tuc today, tomorrow, or yesterday is not relevant. On selection sunday is the only day that it matters. Maine isn't being penalized right now. If you beat a tuc you get credit on selection sunday, if not you carry that loss as well. This is the problem with the constant bracketology and pwr watchers. Doesn't matter right now. Too much changes from day to day..

Thanks;that makes sense.

But what if TUC Team A defeats TUC Team B in a playoff game, and in the process knocks the latter out of TUC consideration,in the final game for Team B?

I'm fairly stupid, but it seems to me that Team A would maybe screw itself in that scenario by winning that last game, via taking away the TUC comparison wins vs. Team B,providing they were there before the puck dropped on the last game they played.

My point is that the TUC criterion is too arbitrary,I suppose, and it's too similar to RPI to exist as as a separate entity.RPI allows for even a lowly #26 team to exert some influence, and TUC does not.Typically, there's not a lot of separation between #25 and #26.I'd rather see the TUC consist of a smaller sample, say RPI 1-10,if it exists at all.

I think there was a question like this a few years ago when Wisconsin played Anchorage in the league quarterfinals, they may have intentionally dropped one of the games to keep UAA a TUC.. not really sure if those are the teams involved, and if it was 'intentional' but there was speculation..... But there are situations where winning a best of 3 series against a team on the TUC bubble is counter-productive to your PWR, which is definitnely screwey...

Dejavu all over again.

You won't have to worry about him playing this weekend.

This was in last Thursday's Campus, and is said to be "Sunday" (but no date is given). It was either Jan 31 or Feb 7. So if this is the same person as the player (and all signs point to it being him), then he should have already faced any discipline the team was handing down.

Re: The 2nd official 09-10 Maine season thread

Maine needs to avoid any bracket with BU in it. The Black Bears have a much better shot vs. BC or UNH if they make it that far. Also, I'd rather play a #5 UMass than a #6/#7 Lowell or NU!

Oh my gosh...

PRO-BA-TION,PRO-BA-TION..!

Thank God YouTube, etc. didn't exist when I went to Maine.

Break the law! break the law! When will UMaine hockey players learn that they need to obey the same state laws that the rest of the students do?

Too bad all of us can't be as straight-laced and law abiding as you, Sandy....these are college kids, FCS

I wonder what percentage of under age college kids actually make it to the age of majority before evil alcohol actually passes over their lips. I would venture to say less than 25% :p

College kid drinks beer, film at 11.

   Thank God we never did that. Frankly I'm sick n tired of the 24/7 media world we live in. If it was like this when we were at Orono we ALL would've been expelled, or at least on double secret probation.......then expelled!
