Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

I was in Duluth in 2012, watching Minnesota and Wisconsin in the final. And as the game was winding down and it was becoming apparent that the Gophers were going to win, I remember thinking "well, if we're gonna lose, I'm glad that it is to guys like Sara Erickson and Kelly Terry and (whoever else the seniors on that team were), because for them to go through four years and never win the championship just seems wrong. I'm glad for them they finally got one."

And I'm thinking that same way tonight, only "in reverse". This is now the second class of Badger seniors to finish up without a national title on their resumes.

Yeah, "we'll be back next year!!". And it doesn't *really* matter to me if I can say "five time national champs" instead of "four times...".

But it does to the guys heading out the door. Courtney Burke and Erica Sowchuk, Kim Drake and Katy Harding. Last year, Karley Sylvester and Blayre Turnbull and Katy Josephs. They won't "be back next year!".

Those are the guys I'm upset for and disappointed for tonight.

Dammit. I really thought it was "our turn" again this year.

(Yeah, yeah, I know. The people for the schools out east are saying "stop, stop, you're breaking our hearts!")

Kelly was not a senior but I agree with your sentiment. The Badgers a a very good team and deserve a lot better fate. For a few years there it was the exact opposite, Gophers having very deserving teams but not able to get past Wisconsin. I expect the next few years will be just like the past decade and both sides have to be prepared for a season unjustly ended too soon. This year was more true than ever, if they played for the Stanley cup it would come down to a game 7 because they would be 3-3.

I agree as well with the sentiment. In 2012 I was especially happy for Schoulis and West who because of injuries were red shirt seniors on that team. But players like Drazan, Marvin, Gagnon, Francis and many others who were freshman between 2006 and 2008 never got to win that final big game at least once and I wish they had.

Two great games tonight. 80 girls, their coaches, and staff gave it everything they had but unfortunately only 2 teams get to advance.

A number of years ago while at one of those scrimmages that a friend of mine holds I couldn't help notice one of the female skaters. As he stepped off the ice at the end of the scrimmage I asked him "who's that girl in the blue jersey?...man can she skate!" He answered, "that's Melanie Gagnon, she plays for the University of Minnesota."

She really stood out. Was able to watch her play a few times for UM in the 2008-09 season.

This women's hockey world is a very small world.

She was one of the Ste. Anne three...

The games today were great. However, I'd give a big thumbs down to Durham as a host. After the game, we couldn't find any restaurant near campus that still had an open kitchen. It's just inexcusab;e to have this sort of event somewhere you can't get dinner after the second game.

That's what happens on the east coast...it's still only 9:45 in Arizona. Lol

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

BC is looking for the perfect shot....take the shot! Clarkson D is folding leaving the points open....Clarkson is trying to jam the center zone but BC can skate ....TTT20 where r u? Come say hi.....white beard with vest and shorts on the railing center ice!

Hey! I was the guy you asked if I was Grant!

And yes, that whole not taking the shot thing was MADDENING. Fortunately they busted out of that ten minutes into the third period or things might have been very bad.

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

The whole team looks slow (maybe it's just the video). Like they want to play good position defense and just take advantage of any mistakes made by the opposition.

I was actually surprised by how many foot races to open pucks Clarkson won. Maybe it was the big ice or maybe BC came out flat, but Clarkson looked plenty fast to me.

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

Okay I have kind of a lot of thoughts but I'm too tired to put all of them here so I'll just say some things and go to bed.

Clarkson played amazing, man were they good.

BC was so, so flat, and so mechanical and not fluid. Hopefully they loosen up for Sunday.

Gopher and Wisco bands were excellent. I assume BC will have a non-high school band there Sunday.

God I am so happy. Man I hope they win. But I am so happy. I thought they were completely toast. They were getting bossed all over the place.

I cannot believe we won. I cannot believe we're playing for a national championship on Sunday. This is surreal. I can't even begin to put into words how much it means to me to see them play for a title. There has been some good, some bad, and some very bad things to live through with this program, and they have a chance to win a national title.

God I cannot believe it.

If you think you are so happy now, wait till Sunday when BC wins it all. 2 years ago occurred the greatest single game in my life from a fans standpoint when Clarkson won its title. I was literally in tears I was so happy that FINALLY a Clarkson team had won a hockey National Title. GO BC :)

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

So where was all the UW interference the rodent fans were crying about that UW does? A well played game from a penalties standpoint, though decking players after the whistle should get called. I thought the second call on UM in OT was weak, but maybe from the angle the ref had it looked worse than it was.
