Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

WOW, what a steal and GWG by Potomak. Congrats to the Gophers. 2 great games today sending 2 great teams home and 2 slightly better teams on to Sundays Final.

The Gophers and Eagles for all the pucks.

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

The journalist in me thinks this is the greatest story ever. Minnesota, the only team to have a perfect season, trying to stop Boston College from matching the feat in the last game of the season. That's so poetic

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

No doubt the Gophers were going to win that one. I lost track of the point blank chances given to them by Wisco.

I didn't think the Badgers played a very inspired game. Not sure who there leaders were but they just looked lifeless.

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

....definitely never felt comfortable that Gophers were going to pull it out....very good Wisc team.

Can't remember an OT with that many penalties.

I wonder if they know something about Johnson that we don't????

What an incredible effort by Potomak!

And both goalies I thought played extremely well. Thank you Amanda L!

Go for it, Candace! Could be your greatest column ever! ;);)

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

Two absolutely pitiful power plays by the dirt diggers in OT.

Could see the winner coming, Desbiens relaxed as the puck was being moved along the boards and which reduced her focus time after she sensed a threat...might have been the difference.

POG = Desbiens...brilliant game except for mental error in last few seconds.

Tremendous game...two great teams.

BC now has even more of an advantage with respect to rest and recovery time since this one went deep into the first OT period.

Should be an interesting game and one many have wanted to see for a long while.

The two semis made up for the utterly forgettable quarter finals (forgettable, other than the fact that there were some new flavours in the mix).

Totally disagree. With a day off tomorrow, plenty of time to recover, both physically and mentally.

Agreed. Should be a fantastic final between two offensive-minded teams.

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

That was some lazy defensive play by Channell - she's going to be thinking of that one all summer.

hey now, this was OT, calling any of these players lazy

Interesting venue for me to watch the game, campus of UW-Madison
but where were all the fans?
lotsa hoops fans, but very few hockey fans
in fact there was another guy, who I have to tip my UM cap to, if I was wearing one
who wore a MN sweatshirt
if I'd have known I'd be here, I'd have brought one with, but I'm not sure I would have worn it

from the Badger Den

oh yeah,
Amanda Leveille MVP of the game
I believe her record vs. Wisco is now 10-3-1
including 3 NCAA semi final victories

Re: The 2016 NCAA Frozen Four

I was in Duluth in 2012, watching Minnesota and Wisconsin in the final. And as the game was winding down and it was becoming apparent that the Gophers were going to win, I remember thinking "well, if we're gonna lose, I'm glad that it is to guys like Sara Erickson and Kelly Terry and (whoever else the seniors on that team were), because for them to go through four years and never win the championship just seems wrong. I'm glad for them they finally got one."

And I'm thinking that same way tonight, only "in reverse". This is now the second class of Badger seniors to finish up without a national title on their resumes.

Yeah, "we'll be back next year!!". And it doesn't *really* matter to me if I can say "five time national champs" instead of "four times...".

But it does to the guys heading out the door. Courtney Burke and Erica Sowchuk, Kim Drake and Katy Harding. Last year, Karley Sylvester and Blayre Turnbull and Katy Josephs. They won't "be back next year!".

Those are the guys I'm upset for and disappointed for tonight.

Dammit. I really thought it was "our turn" again this year.

(Yeah, yeah, I know. The people for the schools out east are saying "stop, stop, you're breaking our hearts!")
