Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Looks like a loss for NE.

Pats fans will yell about that missed PI on Jammer that helped Den get a defensive stop. But Brady deserves blame, too. He needs 4 yards to keep the chains moving, and instead he heaves it downfield trying to get Jammer for the PI that he deserved on the previous play. That wasn't hall of fame decision making by Brady.

That, and the complete lack of run defense.

And as soon as I type that, Denver stalls, just outside FG range.

Not sure Brady deserved another shot, but it looks like he'll get it.

Edit: and did nothing with it.

And the Pats are going to win anyway. Wow. Long, Looooong plane ride for Carter.

Yeah. That was interesting...

A few things:

1) This D lives and dies by Talib's ability to control the other team's big receiver. Had he exited that game again due to injury the Pats would have lost. I know he lost a couple of battles here and there (particularly the last Denver TD) but if they're going anywhere this year they need him healthy. Having said that, good job on Welker yesterday by the rest of the D.

2) Manning is a horrible cold weather QB. Calling all statsnerds, come up with a "Dome Differential" for QB's career stats who spend a good portion of their playing days indoors for us to discount by. As much as I think Favre was overhyped, he wasn't playing in a climate controlled environment all those years in GB.

3) Offense looks like its clicking despite the usual amount of questionable play calls. That bomb to a covered receiver in OT is inexcusable. Get the 1st down and not some splashy play when all that is needed is a FG to win.

Oh, and I don't want to see Ridley on the field ever again. I don't care about his talent he's a game changing turnover waiting to happen. I can forgive Brady's fumble because he was hit from behind. Blount a little bit because he got his bell rung (although it was said of Walter Payton that he never got blown up by a defender because he didn't put himself in that position, apparently a lost art from today's RB's). Ridley was just a one on one tackle that every defender is going to try to make (helmet on the ball). Have fun on the bench.

Also thank you to Peyton and the Broncos’ play callers. Talib and Moreno are injured in OT and come out for a couple of plays. And the Broncos choose to hand the ball off to a free agent running back? Apparently, they had no scouting reports on the Pats’ pass defense without Talib.

Got to give Belichick and McDaniels (and the return of Gronk) credit. Remember the passing attack in the first several games? I’d love to see Thompkins or Edelman or Dobson (was he even active last night?) be an XLVIII version of Deion Branch XXXIX.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

Pats have to spot every team they play at least 10 points

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

That pass to Gronkowski was completely uncatchable.

Re: The 2013 New England Patriots

christ almighty, the win against denver goes down the toilet if they blow this one today

Yup, this pats team is awful at times, they aren't consistent at all. They can't stop a bad team on a 3rd down but kept peyton down for most of a game. The D being beat up in the middle isn't helping. Now they have 2 wide receivers out, WT F
