Re: The 2012 Presidential Election Part I - The guns of August
And what are the poor paying? Well, 48% of them are paying zero. And yet, they're still getting stuff.
Let's try this: a restaurant has two waitresses and four tables of customers (hypothetical scenario). The first waitress provides excellent service, and receives from each of her two tables a $100 tip. The second waitress is not so good, acts like the stereotypical frumpy waitress you see in bad films, and receives from each of her two tables a $1 tip (and let's assume it's justified). Should the restaurant have a general fund where each waitress receives $101 in tips for the day, or should each waitress receives the tip amounts that they themselves so rightfully earned?
Nope, I'm not ok with it and the government is not stealing. Stealing is against the law.
When you pay taxes, you're paying into a general fund. From that pool, many services are funded of which last I checked the rich benefit from many. Also, the rich are willingly paying into that fund. If they choose not to pay, they are free at any time to break their contract with the US and give up their citizenship. No 'theft' here.
