Re: The 2011 Boston Red Sox: This Space for Rent

At least Matsuzaka only has one year left.

Boston has Lackey through 2014. A few more mediocre starts from him, and I'm not sure that I'm a whole lot happier about that situation.

Well, it's starting to look like Boston's streak of consecutive series wins will end . . .at one.

This season is like going out to see a Chris Rock show, and getting Colin Quinn instead.

From the best team EVuh(courtesy of the Boston Herald), to 2-9, nice

More like Martha Quinn.

Tonight's game has been mercifully postponed.
Because they did not sell out??

In the past, they would drag you to the ball park, make you sit for 2 hrs, buy the concessions, then cancel the game.

Re: The 2011 Boston Red Sox: This Space for Rent

Remember Pedroia in 2007? Nobody thought he could play for that first month. Francona stuck with him and bingo!

Patience, Red Sox fans. All will be good on the last day of the season.

You're being reasonable and optimistic. You must not be from around these parts ;)

Lifetime Sox fan. It is in the blood.

As a lifetime Sox fan, shouldn't you be more pessimistic???? I mean, I usually am. I decided before the season started to not be so pessimistic. An look where that got me!!!!!! GAH!! It's all on me. Sorry Sox fans. I hope it's not too late to give up.

Happy about AGonz because, yeah, HAWT.[/shallow female fanspeak]

Heading to Fenway tonight for my first game of the year. Hope it's not too cold. Thankfully no rain!

Re: The 2011 Boston Red Sox: This Space for Rent

Optimism is permitted the first few weeks of the season. Of course "optimism" usually means "Hideo Nomo will pitch five more no-hitters this year" whereas this year it means "maybe the Sox will break .500".

Re: The 2011 Boston Red Sox: This Space for Rent

C'mon, if you don't review that then why have replay?

And Buchholz, try not to come so close to giving up a 3run HR with your next pitch.

Was it a homerun? Yahoo Sports has it 0-0 but the box score says Lind hit a 3 run homerun.

Re: The 2011 Boston Red Sox: This Space for Rent

The thing with Pedroia - and also Ortiz - was that when he started slowly, the rest of the team could pick him up. It just doesn't work as well when the team is playing like garbage and Pedroia alone is trying to pick them up.

They still have a chance to take this series v Toronto. To do it, they'll need a win today. Beckett takes the mound against Jo-Jo Reyes. If Boston finds a way to lose this one . . .
