Re: The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool

I sense that some on this thread find my posts about "courage" vs. "wimpiness" irritating, so I will desist. But let me first remind you that the intent was to give some light-hearted acknowledgement to those posters who tend to go out on a limb and predict a few upsets each week. Otherwise, many of these poll threads can get as dull as dishwater with everyone going with the favourites. I will leave you to the serious exercise of picking them as you see them.

Sir: favorites.
This word is spelled as I have herein shown (above). Like team, Sir, there is no u (in the USA) in the spelling. Possibly north of the border or abroad- British Isles, you might find, 'favourites' (with a u.) I don't know.
Thank u for your time...
Pap

I had no problem w. your posts re wimpiness, courage. Applaud 'lightheartedness' wherever found.

In Canada, where hab is undoubtedly from, "u"s are added to many words; favour, labour, honour etc..

Cali, you are clearly not familiar with Papulaisle. Wait until he starts talking about that school on the dirt patch along the Charles. :D

BTW Pap's....Did you ever watch the Big Green speech from Conan last May ?. It should be a must watch for you.

Re: The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool

As an RPI fan I am deeply offended that so far this thread has unanimously predicted that the Badgers will sweep the Engineers this weekend. Do you have any idea how long that bus ride is? However, I am not so deeply offended that I will allow it to cloud my judgement (or do Americans spell that "clod"?).

Re: The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool

I've just given myself a headache looking at next week's schedule. 23 games ! (22 if Yale and QU play each other on day 2 of Nutmeg, versus playing UConn and RMU). And I am having trouble finding one game that is a slam dunk to predict. I have a feeling that we are going to see a very wide dispersion of predictions, and of results.

Re: The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool - Week 7 lineup.

There seems to be a problem with the way that the schedule outlines the possibilities for the Nutmeg Classic, and it could lead to some confusion in the way that we make our predictions. As I understand it, RMU plays Yale and QU plays UConn, with the losers of those games meeting at 4 pm the next day, and the winners meeting at 7 pm. However, the schedule does not seem to contemplate the possibility of RMU playing UConn (either because they both win or both lose). To avoid confusion, I would propose that we ask our illustrious prognosticators to simply predict who will be the winner of the 4 pm game (consolation) and who will win the 7 pm game (I am assuming that the tournament format does not allow for ties). The idea would be that you get a point for predicting the winner of the game, even if you didn't get it right as to who they were playing against in that game. Otherwise the scoring combinations get a little complex. Does this work OnMAA?

No this does not work. There should be no confusion. Just like last year, you need to pick all the possible games involving ECAC teams. That is three possible Saturday matchups you need to predict, as the fourth matchup possibility, RMU vs UConn, does not involve ECAC teams. Below are the possible Saturday matchup to pick. For clarity edited the original line-up post to include all three.

Saturday Nutmeg match-up posibilities involving ECAC teams:
* Quinnipiac vs Yale NC 4:00 pm/ 7:00 pm ET
* Connecticut vs Yale NC 4:00 pm/ 7:00 pm ET
* Robert Morris vs Quinnipiac NC 4:00 pm/ 7:00 pm ET
* - Nutmeg Classic...Only two of these games will happen.

Maybe you should stick with the "Wimp" meter calculations. :D
