The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool

Re: The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool

If the Engineers don't start putting some pucks in the net I'm going to be eating dust in this race :o. I've called them to be 3-1-0 in the last two weeks and they have gone 0-3-1. If they can't come up with some points against Yale and Brown even I may have to throw in the towel :(.

As mentioned earlier, to use your favorite word, this week is not for Wimps. Maybe you should think about "Engineering" a new methodology to have more success. :D

Re: The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool

I'm on to your mind games OnMAA :p: You say its no week for wimps then you post a wimpy prediction; you hint that Cornell and Harvard are missing their stars, then you predict Cornell and Harvard wins :D. Enormous dispersion on the Courage scale this week: huge courage numbers for DC78-82, and Sheba (both predict that Cornell and Harvard will falter, and this may be the only smart weekend to do that), and Cali. Mattj711 and Hockey Teacher are Wimpiest (i.e. come closest to predicting the outcomes that LakesFan's computer would predict):
DC 78-82 5.10
Sheba 4.45
Cali 3.29
Hab 1.11
SlewFoot 1.02
OnMAA 0.90
HockTea 0.27
Mattj711 0.14

Picking Union to win, let alone sweep, is a very strange feeling.

Strange, yes, but its certainly possible, and nice to see the Dutchwomen competitive.
Courage score: 1.23, mostly on the basis that you are the first to predict than Yale will win one.

I don't care what the computer sais to determine your wimp scale. :p: Do my predictions based on top of the head knowledge from recent results and historic trends. Based on that made out of the norm predictions this week. For example, predicting, that Brown and Union combine to win three games in one weekend is uncharted territory. Only reason that count was three instead of four was because they play each other in one game. Predicting a Cornell win over harvard while Cornell is missing four players, and they only have 15 skaters to start with, is a gutsy call against quality teams like Dartmouth and Harvard. IMHO Harvard is the strongest team in the league after Cornell, and they'll have a more complete squad at their disposal this weekend. I think it is not unconceivable that Cornell loses both games this weekend. Both those games are not that easy to pick this week.

Agree with that for sure. IMHO, once you get past Cornell, a more balanced league.

I pick them....................... the way I see them!!

Simple as that!

I could care less about any "Enormous dispersion on the Courage Scale"???

I sense that some on this thread find my posts about "courage" vs. "wimpiness" irritating, so I will desist. But let me first remind you that the intent was to give some light-hearted acknowledgement to those posters who tend to go out on a limb and predict a few upsets each week. Otherwise, many of these poll threads can get as dull as dishwater with everyone going with the favourites. I will leave you to the serious exercise of picking them as you see them.

The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool - Week five Results

The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool - Week five Results

And this weeks winner is Sheba, 8 of 12 correct, to outdo the pack with 7. Congratulations to Sheba.

Key to victory was to get the Dartmouth win over Cornell and nail all six right on Saturday.
Many had a dismal Friday, several poolies with only 1/6 right.
Two poolies had a perfect 6/6 Saturday.

No one predicted the Yale win over Union.
Everyone got the Dartmouth win over Colgate, the only game everyone got right.

DC and Sheba are the only ones that got the Dartmouth win over Cornell correct.
DC also got the tie between Brown and Union correct, to lead the pack with 4/6 after Friday, but she could not hold her lead on Saturday.

The full results:

Code:
Poolie	Picks	Correct	Perc[COLOR="#FF0000"][B]
Sheba	12	8	67%[/B][/COLOR]
DC	12	7	58%
GoCu	12	7	58%
Hab	12	7	58%
MattJ	12	7	58%
OnMAA	12	7	58%
Cali	12	6	50%
Hteach	12	6	50%
SlewF	12	6	50%
Apuck	12	5	42%
HUX	12	5	42%
RinxT	12	4	33%

In the Yearly race Poolie Master Mattj is leading both the points race with 46/70 and the batting average with 65.7%. OnMAA is second in the points race, Slewfoot in the batting average.

Re: The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool - Week five Results

Help is on the way soon for Poolies who think they need a helping hand......

WCHODR Forecasts for the 2011-2012 Season will begin around November 21, 2011

....however you all be warned, as ARM summed it up the best recently, during the Wimp discussions:
..... It's like investing, where no one strategy is right for everyone. Plus, it works out about the same, where sometimes no matter what you do, it's wrong.

The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool - Week six lineup

The 2011-2012 ECAC Posters Pool - Week six lineup

The lineup for week six (that is pool weeks for those keeping track). Several NC games on the slate this week. All teams will have their National team members back.

Matchup of the week is Clarkson at Dartmouth, a repeat of last years exciting playoff duel, and it will give an indication if Clarkson can join the upper echelon of the ECAC.

Talking about Dartmouth, have not heard from Pap's in a while. Kinda miss that.

Good luck to all.
