The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Yeah, Velogames is definitely broken.
A couple updates must have gotten removed or something. :)

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Thursday has to be AC, right?

AC gets a chance to be the ultimate sportsman. With 100M to go he sits up and lets AS retake yellow by a second or two.

At that point they will have dropped Sanchez and Menchov once and for all.

He may give Andy the stage win he isn't going to let him take yellow.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Why is the Roche Gadret controversy getting no play in the cyling news. it was on Sportscenter I saw it on a morning show this morning but Velonews doesn't have an article. I was wondering why Roche had dropped in the standings. Is it because it happened so close to Schleck Contador?

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Obviously Schleck and Contador are the class of the TdF but watching those two accelerate and make it look like everyone else was on training wheels was impressive.

Their skill is unbelievable and they are showing just how head over heels better they are than everyone else right now.

Chris Horner having a great ride for RS. Leipheimer has been dropped from the chase one group so his shot at Paris is officially done.

RS had four riders in the peloton before the acceleration and I think Caisse Depagne only had two. Their team lead is safe.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Wow, what a stare from Schleck after Contador attacked!

Horner is riding very strong in the chase group, but they are already 1.5 minutes back.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Good move by Contador to give the stage to Schleck.
Nice, Rodriguez gets 3rd. Good for my fantasy team.
Ryder in 4th!

Horner comes home eighth. Great ride.

RS had three riders in before Caisse Desparge had any. RS just locked up the team GC win, especially with their time trial abilities.

Samu is an animal! I really hope he can defend in the CLM.

I also heard that when Rodriquez and Hej attacked, Samu and Menchov were at the front and them plus the crowd wouldn't allow Gesink to cover, which he claims he was able to do.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

On a team with Armstrong, Levi, Kloden, etc, who would have expected that Horner is the top guy on GC for RadioShack entering the final TT? :)

Great Tour for him so far!

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Okay - I got to watch the end of the stage just now. There were definitely some interesting sites along the way - the herd of sheep, the guy mooning the riders and the 4 basically naked guys, BUT did anyone else see the guy running alongside briefly with the Team Canada hockey jersey? Gotta love a hockey guy at the top of the mountain.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Great stage by the two contenders. Have to give Sanchez kudo's for fighting back from a nasty spill. Yeoman efforts from Hesjedal and Horner, Horner will get me some points. I only wonder though, if Horner had not been tasked with babysitting Lance in the first mountain stage where would he be 6the 7th? He's looked really good the whole tour.

I don't think he is allowed in the break with Lance if he doesn't do the babysitting.

Sanchez is pretty tough. I expect him to beat Menchov outright in the TT.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

Wow, Cavendish made that look really easy. His 4th win of the Tour.
The overhead shot shows that he had 2 or 3 bike lengths over Dean and Petacchi.

McEwen 4th, Freire 5th...Hushovd down in 14th, so Petacchi gets the green jersey once again.

Green jersey is going to come down to the sprint in Paris.

Re: The 2010 Cycling Thread!

The points standings now look like this after today:

1. Alessandro Petacchi, Lampre - Farnese, 213 points
2. Thor Hushovd, Cervelo Test Team, 203 points
3. Mark Cavendish, Team Htc - Columbia, 197 points
