The 2010 Beanpot: Featuring One Team Under Consideration

Re: The 2010 Beanpot: Featuring One Team Under Consideration

Logically, because everyone who could get into BU could get into BC, and anyone who gets into BC is overqualified for MIT/Harvard?

no, but for the disillusioned fanboy who believes he has a shot at BC, he might as well dream he has a shot at MIT and Harvard as well. a plus is that his anger would be then more evenly spread throughout the city and there would be less of a chance of any incident involving tears at a hockey game.

Re: The 2010 Beanpot: Featuring One Team Under Consideration

Wrong on both counts, maybe there are 1,2 fans wearing the white I [middle finger] BU shirts, but to pretend that that there aren't many fans who treat the sucks to BU shirts as their hockey game attire is living in denial.
I have to be completely honest, I've been to every single BC hockey game within a 50 mile radius this year with the exception of the @ Merrimack game, and I haven't seen even one of those shirts.
Yes, I know there is a tickets forum. I rarely ever look there so I figured I might help someone out. I have two tickets in the balcony to sell for face value. I have received other tickets with some friends. Email me through USCHO if interested.
The part of the balcony that your tickets are in is extremely important information. ;) :)

Congratulations? How many games at Matthews have you been to? I work with a bunch of kids from NU so if BU is off I can almost always get an extra student ticket, and I have never seen the balcony without, at minimum, a smattering of those shirts.

Oops, I have reading comprehension issues. I thought you were referring to BC fans all this time... some apologetic pos rep for you :)

Re: The 2010 Beanpot: Featuring One Team Under Consideration

There's one thing missing in this hilarious rant. Why if your sports programs are so important do your own fans not show up for games. Seems if their sporting events were such momentus occasions, on a national scale, why can't they 1) sell out their home games, or 2) get fans to take a 2 1/2 hour direct flight to watch the conference championship? If your own fans don't even care about their school's sports, why pray tell should the rest of us?:D

I don't really want you to care. I don't give a crap. I'd rather not discuss those sports at all, I don't find them as interesting as hockey. But when BU fans bring it up they only show how ignorant they are about them.

For example, saying they are a high expense... lol. Football and basketball turn profits. They bring in mega revenue (not to mention the value of the 'free advertising' that comes from appearing on major television networks multiple time per year). Hockey actually loses money.

Again, I don't really want to have this conversation. But you once again show that you don't know what you're talking about. Yes, 'nobody cares at all' about BC games, that's why the school brings in millions of dollars in profit from football and basketball (go ahead and look it up, it's all available on the internets).

326 Row 8

Yes. I realize not in the BC section, but there were years when I was a lot younger that I would have loved to just get in no matter where the seats. I always buy 2 just in case, but usually happen to get some through business. Most of my friends who have want to go and can go already have tickets. So anyone I can help with getting 2 seats, I'd be happy to do so.

Football teams that turn a profit are for losers. BU and NU know what's up.

I looked it up, and when I see the Forbes list of most profitable schools, not only is BC nowhere to be found, but its all SEC, Big 10, and Big 12 schools (with ND thrown in). That's football schools with big TV contracts and big stadiums. See, again if the school's teams were such a draw, they wouldn't keep getting sent to the Motor City bowl or the Akron bowl, right? :D

Look, back to the discussion at hand. Nobody is envious of BC's athletic program. If people are going to be envious of other schools, there's a lot more successful ones to choose from. You could chose Florida for example, or if closer to home suits you, UConn, or if academics are important, Duke. As a student or alum, root for them all you like. However, there's little in the way of non-hockey achievements that would make fans of another school want to emulate BC's athletic department. Don't believe me? Again - where are all the fans then?  If only they'd start showing up for games - BC would have a better TV deal than the SEC!

you are delusional if you think BU athletics doesn't envy BC.

And for rednecks. It's not a coincidence that college football is only popular in the same backward, socially retarded, intellectually challenged parts of the country that NASCAR is big in.

Re: The 2010 Beanpot: Featuring One Team Under Consideration

BU fan: Doesn't our athletic department have more championships than yours?

BC fan: Yeah, but that's just in hockey!!!

For what its worth... Women's Rowing has 4. '74,'74,'91,'92

After all, give credit where it's due!

Edit: Although the '74 and '75 years could be phantom too! I can't find any record of that anywhere but the BU website! :D

Most bowl games hate having BC because their fans do not travel well. I'd go as far to say with the exception of maybe Syracuse any team in the Big East would travel better to a bowl game than BC.

Agree.

What a state of denial these rejects are in. They act like having a good athletic program is a bad thing... because it isn't as good as ours.
