That is some **** ****ing ****. **** the NHL.

People should turn on the Wild-Coyotes game. Not to watch a couple of less-than-mediocre teams go at it, but to watch some of the worst officiating I have seen this season. It is hilarious.

Detroit was just robbed, but it's Brad May so I don't really care. :)

Holy cow that official in Detroit sucks. Toronto even called down and all he apparently said was "I couldn't see it and meant to blow the whistle, even though it was in the net for 5 seconds already."

F-cking miserable.

Incompetence abounds all over tonight. Wild-Coyotes game saw Nolan get called for slashing when Lepisto's stick broke on its own making a pass and now this.

Unfathomable idiocy everywhere.

"According to a source familiar with the ongoing contract talks, the signing is not imminent and the total payout is not likely to be as high as reported today.

Savard, who will turn 33 years old next July, is closing in on a seven-year pact worth closer to $32 million (cap hit: approximately $4.7 million).

A typical payout for this kind of deal, made popular by the Red Wings and Flyers, would see Savard pull in, say, all but $3-4 million over the first five years."

Yet still better than the NBA, and reasonably close to the crap we see from the NFL and post season MLB... sigh.

FIFA and NHL are neck-and-neck for complete trash today.

Unbelieveable.

What confuses me most is why he doesn't ever actually look at the video. Even if he claims he intended to blow the whistle, why doesn't Toronto make him take a quick look? It would have taken 30 seconds and it would have prevented him from botching the call.

The only thing that makes sense is he intended to blow the whistle before the shot? But, why did he intend to blow it then? And if he didn't intend to blow it until the non existent save was made, well, that's a goal.

That's what I thought at first too, since the puck is near the net before going out to May for the shot, but that puts the whistle 5-10 seconds after the intent rather than the 3 or so if he intended to blow it on the save. So either his reflexes suck balls or he intended to blow it dead on the non-existent save.

I'm not really too ticked off about the call though. After all, it was the Red Wings and it did help them lose. :D

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

That reaches Randy Schmidt levels of ineptitude. He meant to blow the play dead when the puck was frozen inside the net. Makes perfect sense. As long as the goalie has frozen the puck, it doesn't matter whether it's in the goal or not. What's the point of even having a review system with crap like that?
