Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

Was this one not on TV? I looked and could not find it.

Center Ice only (and HockeyWilderness has some Internet feed links).

Good game by the Minnesota Wild; that makes 2 in a row:eek:

Go Wild!

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

It was on Center Ice, but not regular TV.

Yep -- I finally get to see a Leafs broadcast in HD and they get smoked! :(

Second period was big for the Wild. Backstrom outdueled Gustavsson, but the Monster still made some amazing saves.

The Wild worked really hard holding off the Leafs through the middle of the 2nd and then were rewarded with a couple of goals of their own. That was huge.

Backstrom was awesome. The 3rd period pretty much was played in the Wild zone. Kessel had a pretty sweet break away to make it 4-2, the Wild decided to go to the box but Owen Nolan gets one nice and easy down the ice :D

100 wins for Backs and the first franchise win for this Minnesota team in Toronto :)

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

I said this ten seconds before the Koivu penalty, "Now the Wild will send it over the glass to make things a little interesting." No joke.

Stajan got a few diving pointers from Earl during his time with the Leafs. That was impressive. ;)

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

Marcel Goc just scored a goal. What the hell?

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

I'd like to thank Vancouver's Burrows and Hordichuk for helping my FHL teams tonight.....39 penalty minutes between the two. :D

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

thats fine, now they are beating a stanley cup goalie, and keeping two of the worlds best players off the score sheets entirely.

Yeah that's hard when one of them is watching in the press box.

But the B's are still without Savard and Lucic so I think it all evens out. I'm just glad they finally won two in a row. With the Panthers on Thursday hopefully the Bruins can get a winning streak going.

You think Savard and Lucic = Malkin and Gonchar?

Christ, no wonder the Bruins can get away with murdering the game and their future to grand aplomb.

I'm at a complete loss for words here. There is no way in hell those two guys equal out to Sidney Crosby, never mind Evgeni Malkin.

In other words: Wow.

Savard is one of the premier set up guys in the league, so as a top line guy I would compare him with crosby with regards to their roles.

If you are at a complete loss of words, please stop posting about this.

This is unbelievably stupid.

Savard is a good player - but he's not Sidney Crosby and he's not Evgeni Malkin.

Marc Savard is not one of the best three players in the NHL.

What's so hard to understand about this?

It's a fanbase that's ok with Lucic making 4M a year because he's a working class hero! Can't wait to see the Bruins next year when they literally have no one to pass or score but still have no cap space. The spinning is going to be grand!

I wasn't comparing the talent of Savard and Lucic to Malkin. I was comparing the fact that both teams have big injuries. The argument can easily be made that the loss of Savard/Lucic is worse for the Bruins than the Pens losing Malkin because the Bruins have less offensive talent to replace these two players. Obviously Lucic doesn't provide a ton of offensive production but the energy he brings to each game in invaluable. At least the Penguins still have one of the league's premier players in their lineup.
