What a boring @ ss game. A terrible product being put on the ice and I was amazed at all the empty seats for a B's-Habs match up.

I was reading it was somewhere between 3,000-5,000 seats available for tonight's game. The Bruins are lucky the Habs are also struggling or else it could've turned out like a home game for Montreal.

F you Bruins. Its time for Recchi to go.

Again, they hold a team to 1 goal....not horrible. Only 7 teams in the league are better, and a few are the same. I am hoping that Toronto gets a #1 and bruins can pick up either Hall or a character guy like Kabanov. Maybe they won't trade them when they are ready to eclipse a 30+ goal season though.

I heard from good sources that Kessell was a pretty bland character, but I don't see that as a detriment to the team per last years performance. Bruins have a lot of money tied up in the crease, and need to shell out some cash so savard can be better utilized as a set up guy.

Hey, 8-8 without 3 of your 6 defensemen that started the season, including your team's best player, is not so bad, IMHO. If they can stay around .500 until Markov is back...

Still, they are most definitely not a Cup contender. Not when Glen Metropolit is one of your leading scorers.

The Bruins have been playing boring hockey for the last like four years, how are you just realizing this now?

Shh, shh.... Rover knows this, he's just poking the locals.

Nothing like playing the oilers to get a teams offense going. Now if only "Mr. Clutch" Chris Drury would actually do something on the ice.

They're really biting today, eh Rover?

I asked the Magic 8-Ball about if I should expect this to happen and it said, "Not likely."

Sad part is, other teams knew this - I'm sure they would've rather moved his contract than Gomez.

Savard's got about 8 months left with Boston.

My team is terrible.

That is all.

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

What I would say is look at what passes for success for the Bruins vs for the other 3 professional sports teams in the state, and that will tell you all you need to know. I can't imagine any of the other teams being happy about getting wiped out in the second round of the playoffs, nor being thrilled that they 'only' lost the last three games by a little bit.

Fortunately, given the lack of fans for the marquee matchup of the B's regular season (Montreal games) it looks like even the sheep are starting to get the message.

You say this as if Bruins tickets have been hard to come by for a long time. Not the case at all.

Drive attendance down to 5000 a game. While I realize that's not necessarily fair to the players who are making an effort, its short term pain for long term gain. That ought to convince the miser owner to sell the team, while hanging on to ownership of the arena (where the real $$$ is at). A completely new team structure, from the owner down to the scouting department, can then be implemented.

The problem right now is everytime they have a decent season (Sullivan's 1st year coaching, last year, etc) fans go out and pay ridiculous season ticket prices. With his coffers filled, there's no pressure on Jacobs to improve the product on the ice. Just make the playoffs once in awhile and the fans will show. That will not change unless the fans change it.

Nathan, what do you think of Havlat thus far? Thought Russo's comments about his aversion to shooting the puck were enlightening. And he hasn't even decided to milk an injury for three months yet.

that's fine, but I am irritated that I move down (relatively) close to DC, and ovechkin gets injured for the first time in his career.

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

The Red Wings apparently blew their wad playing San Jose, since they're getting rolled by the Laffs.

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

That and Jason Williams broke his leg. Not a big deal, except that they've got about 32 other forwards hurt as well.

Re: The 2009-10 NHL regular season thread: Slightly less meaningless hockey

A text from the poster known as Schmacon (a great hockey mind, btw) that I got tonight, after he had a few Iron Butterflies:

"Phaneuf just laid out Avery, and after the game he will lay out Cuthbert! Sloppy second revenge!!"

:D :D :D

(yes, I submitted that to tfln, and am hoping it will be posted)
