Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

What exactly are you chalking up?

If it's a sick guy with a gun ,then you better get out of DC.

No, it's the anger, vitriol, and bigoted politics that the Sherrif was talking about. I'll add that to the list of reasons I don't want to live in AZ - the heat, the fact that their largest city is basically one giant glorified suburb, etc.

But those are just my personal reasons.

You mean like the bigoted politics of the sheriff in question? He can't even dissociate himself from politics to conduct an investigation.

Though, I agree, the left during the past decade has made a large show of ignorant and disgusting remarks in regards to the president and members of the government. Sometimes these fantasies have been revealed publically.

Keep on this line and I will go further, let it go and I will stop. Do we understand each other? I'm not going to let you smear the conservative movement because of the actions of person who was steeped in the anti-war materials and propaganda of the past decade as influenced by Alex Jones and fellow travelers.

Topic #1 will be "The Purple People Beaters"... its your choice.

Well, seven years used to be a lot :p Senior would rule out Corker too. Could be Graham, Hatch or Lugar. I don't think it was Jon Kyl :D

Wonderful reasons I suppose. But they have absolutelly nothing to do with the shooting of this Congresswoman.

With Begich's election in '08, isn't Murkowski the senior senator from Alaska? Or have I misintrepeted what you guys are talking about?

More on the premeditation angle from WSJ

Accused gunman Jared Lee Loughner appeared to have been long obsessed with U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
A safe at Mr. Loughner's home contained a form letter from Ms. Giffords' office thanking him for attending a 2007 "Congress on Your Corner" event in Tucson...
Mr. Loughner had complained to a friend about how he was treated by the Arizona lawmaker during an event several years ago, which aggravated Mr. Loughner, according to the friend...
Mr. Montanaro said his friend "was never really political," but "really tried to be philosophical." Mr. Loughner liked "contemplating the meaning of words and the origin of language," Mr. Montanaro said.

That interest might have triggered Mr. Loughner's first meeting with Ms. Giffords in 2007. Mr. Loughner said he asked the lawmaker, "How do you know words mean anything?" recalled Mr. Montanaro. He said Mr. Loughner was "aggravated" when Ms. Giffords, after pausing for a couple of seconds, "responded to him in Spanish and moved on with the meeting."

So, just so we're clear here, this started back in 2007, long before 98% of the country had heard of Sarah Palin. Can we put that idiocy to bed now?

But I think the last line is probably the most significant:
"I really can't understand why Jared was so interested in Giffords," Mr. Montanaro said. "I imagine it was simply because she was the most accessible."

Politico talked to a "senior Republican senator" for the story. Typically, they would not define a 2nd termer as "senior" in terms of the entire Senate, they would just say it was a senator. By throwing in the "senior" they are saying this is a senator who has been there a while. Since Lindsey Graham has only been there since 2003, that would seem to eliminate him as well.

Hatch and Lugar both took office in 1977 and have been "targeted" for primary challenges by the Tea Party so they aren't big fans of the group. I don't see why the TP has them on the list honestly. Lugar is about the most-respected foreign policy expert in the Senate and Hatch isn't exactly a moderate.

I hear that when she mates, she bites the head off the male.

Shocking thing is that someone has mated several times with her. She's probably Miss America at them rallies she goes to.

Maybe Jon Stewart is right about everything. If this keeps up, I'll be posting North of the border. :D

I never implied they did. I just don't like Arizona.

This particular incident hasn't improved my opinion of the state, that's all.

What the **** are you blabbering about?

I don't care for Arizona, and you come up with this?

Because there's a lot more to being a Senator than foreign policy.

Have you read anything about this guy? He clearly wasn't thinking in terms of 2nd amendment remedies. He was nuts.

Although, since we're still evidently just throwing crap against the wall...

Oh my, what heated rhetoric!

Barack Obama incites gun violence!!!!
That’s exactly what Barack Obama said he would do to counter Republican attacks “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” Obama said at a Philadelphia fundraiser Friday night.

Now, I don't believe either of those things are to blame here. In fact, they share an equal amount of blame as do people talking about second amendment remedies, which is to say, zero.

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

I've made it clear. I don't think any of that kind of talk is ok. I don't care if Bill Clinton himself said it.

Great. But there's a big distance from thinking that kind of talk needs to go away and blaming this thing on such talk.
