Glad to see that even people in the Midwest are waking up and trying to force progress. Now all you need to do is get rid of the teabagger governor and you'd be set.

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

Oh yikes. I see it says under fourteen. I interpreted it to be lowering the age from sixteen to fourteen the first time I read it. That is bad.

Under this law, there is no minimum age. The next time you check into a hotel in Branson, your hotel attendant could be the seven year old you thought was watching the desk while her Mommy was in the restroom.

Right, I see that now. That's kind of crazy.

Speaking of crazy

JACKSON, Miss. — A fight is brewing in Mississippi over a proposal to issue specialty license plates honoring Confederate Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest, who was an early leader of the Ku Klux Klan.

The Mississippi Division of Sons of Confederate Veterans wants to sponsor a series of state-issued license plates to mark the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, which it calls the "War Between the States." The group proposes a different design each year between now and 2015, with Forrest slated for 2014.

"Seriously?" state NAACP president Derrick Johnson said when he was told about the Forrest plate. "Wow."

Forrest, a Tennessee native, is revered by some as a military genius and reviled by others for leading an 1864 massacre of black Union troops at Fort Pillow, Tenn. Forrest was a Klan grand wizard in Tennessee after the war.

Just curious...when will Mississippi be issuing license plates honoring Osama bin Laden, Tojo, Mussolini and the Kaiser? Or are only certain enemies of the USA being so honored?

As someone said today on Twitter: The protests for freedom have spread all the way from the Middle East to the Midwest.

New tone!

Not needed. Since the tone apparently didn't have anything to do with that loon shooting Congresswoman Giffords in the head there's no reason to change said tone. People of all political stripes are free to equate any president (or any politician) to Hitler.

That's certainly my take. I'm just surprised that liberals are now coming around to that view, after spending all of January moaning about said tone.

Are we having a contest as to who can make the most overt characterization of a leader as Hitler?

Not at all, though it would be one heck of a contest. My point is, it's ridiculous for liberals to complain about those posters for Obama, and then turn around and make them for the first Republican to draw to their ire.

Wonder who would win.

Look, anyone who says someone is like Hitler is actually doing us a favor because we know not to ask them for opinions...or directions...or pretty much anything else.

you expect civility?

Three is a good initial target for an emergency reserve since it takes people a long time to build up these accounts.

The actual amount you need depends on your situation. If you have a stable (read: gov't) job, you could probably get away with a smaller one. If you're in a volatile industry, you probably need closer to 12 months in reserve.

I've got 6 months reserve right now... or I see it 10 months to a car... as for "stable"... we're being told not to plan any trips or large purchases. My idea, in principle is to save up so I can get a car but when i get the car I have enough in hand for the house down payment. Ideally I want enough for 3.5+%down+closing AFTER I put a car down payment.

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

Some states are citing child labor laws against the kids umpiring a little league game or mowing the neighbor's yard.

Somehow I don't see that as right.

I started working, collecting a paycheck, and filing income tax statements (although I didn't really make enough to be taxed) when I was 12... Get these lazy asses out into the world and making cash. God knows they'll need every penny to retire without SS or Medicare.

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

That was an awesome segment. O'Reilly was ticked.

Yes it was, and yes he was. The follow up where Stewart basically pimpslapped O'Reilly the next day was even better :D

BTW you gotta love Mississippi, whether it is Ole Miss fans chanting (not anymore but until recently) "The South Shall Rise Again!" or their love of apparently Anti-American Terrorists like Nathan Bedford Forrest Gump they just are so ****ed plucky!

This was hysterical.

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

Gosh, I just can't understand why Republicans won't pass another stimulus. It was so excellent the first time.

I don't think a stimulus package and a jobs bill necessarily have to be the same thing. The Interstate Highway System wasn't a stimulus package, was it? I'm too lazy to look.

Anyway, on another topic the Republican Party is up for some infighting next round of elections.

Lugar, Snowe and Hatch are all on notice that their approach to governance may no longer be welcome.

The RINO's aren't welcome.

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

Let the legislative games begin: the Democrats have walked out of the Capitol in Wisconsin, depriving the senate of a quorum and making the vote on the public unions impossible (there's 19 GOP state senators, but they need 20 senators for a quorum). The GOP has threatened to send the State Patrol after them to force the vote.

Wonder if they'll flee the state like Texas legislators did 10 years ago over the gerrymandering of the redistricting process.
