Also report that the weapon was a 9mm Glock

Be aware things change dramatically when these events are covered live. I think some people are still wondering who the Arab males are who blew up the Murrah Building.

Edit: MSNBC now reports that she was talking when she was taken into surgery.

Thank God! Hopefully she makes it through this. Definitely sending thoughts and hoping she recovers quickly.

The hospital is supposed to be having a press conference any moment. They were supposed to start 5 minutes ago...hopefully the fact that they're delaying this is good news.

Federal Judge John M. Roll killed in Arizona attack, NBC News reports

Edit: Hospital reports that she is listed in critical condition; state senator says she is responding to commands, made it through the surgery
Edit2: Dep City Manager says she is still in surgery, expected to make it
Edit3: Sheriff says 18 people total were shot

Congresswoman Giffords is not dead, critical condition, and the doctor is very optimistic about her recovery.

amongst other things... it may turn out that this psycho is a "teabagger"... but let's remember... the guy putting together that fuel bomb was a teabagger according to everybody's favorite centrist NYC Mayor Bloomberg until he turned out to be a muslim who had recently returned from Pakistan... and that guy that killed? a NYC cabbie was a teabagger according to a lot of people until he turned out to be part and parcel of the left and belonged to one of those orgs that were, IIRC, anti-racism or pro-harmony of some sort.

edit: the "teabagger" that flew a plane into an IRS building was also a man of the left... most of us don't keep a running list of these incidents because we'd really rather not care to consider them... but funny... these teabaggers are always so prone to do the violence that ends up being done by others.

Sounds to me, right now, we're dealing with a loosely defined anti-authority psycho which has nestled itself square in between... or in the null space... of the political left and the political right.... but we'll see how this evolves.

He list his favorite books as both Animal Farm and the Communist Manifesto (seems contradictory?). It really seems like he was truly a nutjob, all over the place politically.
