Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

So why is it that conservatives want to wrap themselves in the US Constitution until they disagree with it? 'Protect' marriage amendment five years ago. Now it appears they want to change it as soon as they're done reading it. The 14th Amendment.

Don't amendments change the Constitution, even assuming the rest of your argument is correct? :confused: I thought that's what "amend" means.

From the Comments:

Republican czars are Americans, tried and true. Loyal, brave patriots who believe in baseball, Cracker Jacks and Mom's apple pie.
Democratic czars are Communists, Socialists and Fascists (details, shmetails). They are from the Blame America First crowd who believe in Pravda, the KGB and Mom's Borscht.

SUBJECT: POST OFFICES

111th Congress: 69 Post Offices / 359 Public Laws = 19.2%
110th Congress: 107 / 460 = 23.2%
109th Congress: 96 / 482 = 19.9%
108th Congress: 88 / 498 = 17.7%
107th Congress: 48 / 377 = 17.1%
106th Congress: 54 / 580 = 9.3%

Isn't it a good thing that Congress isn't passing new laws? (Smaller government, and all that.) :p

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow Money on the credit of the United States;

...

To establish Post Offices and post Roads;

Amend the Constitution.

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

And then Foxx, who’s known for making shocking statements (Foxx’s floor remarks from 2009 on health care reform come to mind), said this: “I don’t think the measure of success of a community college is always graduation. Many times, all people need to learn is a skill and perhaps get certification in an area.”

How exactly is that a "shocking statement". I think she's absolutely right.

You are supposed to be a rocket scientist, nothing else will do

She's known for making shocking statements; they aren't saying that was one.

Edit: At least I hope they aren't...it doesn't seem that outrageous to me...

Eh, yeah I can see that I guess. Seems an odd way to write that paragraph, but what do I know?

Anyways, in more exciting "news" there's an alleged scandal involving Republican Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack. Involves a billionaire campaign donor and some breast licking?
Link.

It's only a matter of time before a sextape is released. It works for celebrities, so why not Congress?

Ewww! I don't think we need to see any photos of ANY of the women in Congress getting their breasts licked. I need some mental Brillo.

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

The shooting will be politicized in 3...2...

Edit: I'm shocked, SHOCKED I say, to learn it was those brilliant journalists over at Fox News. The anchor asked a reporter who was at the scene, "Had she done anything to outrage people?" Because shooting people is justified if they do something you don't like. :rolleyes:

Yeah, that's precisely what they meant... Nice.

Regardless, this is a terrible series of events that are unfolding. 12 people shot...

CNN reporting 15 people shot, six dead...

So... a news station attempting to learn the backstory behind a news story? That's shocking?
