Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

So the Federal Communications Commission, in charge of regulating communications, should not be allowed to regulate the internet at all? Sounds interesting.
Yep, but they'll collect your ISP. That's information gathering, not regulation.

Hey if you have done nothing wrong, you should have nothing to hide right? ;)

I know you're joking, but for the people that actually believe that line of crap, it's truly unfortunate.

Should have gone to Irkutsk

It's impossible to hold Asia. Just keep caching armies, never miss a card, flank everybody back, and let NAM, SAM and Europe tear each other apart.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders - The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia"

Math is hard.

Re: The 112th Congress - A Congress divided shall not cry!

You mean that phrase that one Tea Partier uttered?

Oh please. It was way more than one, and the GOP was more than willing to go along with it when it got them tea party votes.

The other fun thing is...Ryan's proposal sounds awfully similar to some other health care plan recently proposed. One where people purchase health care from among various plans with government assistance. What's that called again? Something like ObamaCare? Surely Ryan and the rest of the GOP isn't proposing ObamaCare for seniors after the GOP bashed it for the better part of 2 years?

(Why yes, I am calling the GOP a bunch of hypocrites).

There are three BIG differencess. First, the vouchers are a set amount and wouldn't be able to grow out of control. Second, its only for those that would already fully be on gov't assistance anyways. Third, its privately run instead of having the gov't pick and choose whats covered.

So instead of having gov't run death panels, we have Blue Cross/Blue Shield death panels. Wow, big improvement there.

Indeed, having private companies pick what is covered is the superior choice.

For the almighty profit!

Really? When you go to McDonalds do they tell you what you have to get? If you don't want what they are selling you go somewhere else. The only entity that can force what will be picked is the gov't. The private sector has to provide what people want or they will be out of business.

It all comes down to this choice. Do you want to have all options available to everyone, but they may have to make sacrifices in their lives to afford it? Or do you want everyone's options to be limited to what the gov't allows you to have?

If Blue Cross gets to be too burdensome I can switch to Aetna. If the gov't is too burdensome there is no other place to go.

So McDonalds offers steak, lobster, pepsi products, and beer? No? Then they limit my choices, just the same as any other restaraunt.

Which is fine when there are 1000's of other restaraunts and supermarkets to choose from. Health care is not nearly as competitive, it's essentially an oligopoly or, in some cases, nearly a monopoly.

Also, comparing health care to lunch options, as though the two are anywhere near the same level of importance, is just awesomely sad.

Just don't get sick and everything will be fine.
