Team USA--WJC

Re: Team USA--WJC

Skjei has played terrible this year there is no question about that.
Skjei = Forbort - both drafted off potential based on raw tools, but at the end of the day you need to know how to play hockey too.

Wrong, Forbort > Skjei. He actually made the team.

Re: Team USA--WJC

Of course you KNOW, if USA wins the gold and Canada comes in 4th, Canada's going to demand a change to the format so that only the top 4 go to the medal rounds.

I believe that the medal round will expand to 8 teams starting next year.

Of course, Canada used to always say that if only their guys in the NHL could participate, then NO ONE would have a chance. What now Canucks?

Re: Team USA--WJC

Not too bad for a HS coach.

Not too bad at all. As some have mentioned, this might be the best performance out of an American World Junior team that I've seen in a long time. Obviously, taking Rocco out of the lineup and moving Vesey up to the first line was the key to get this team going. Since that change, the US has outscored their opponents 21-4. Housley deserves all the credit for getting the team to where they are right now. If this team plays this well against Sweden, the US will win the gold.

As for Gaudreau...what a player. He made it look so easy. I'm a little scared of what he's going to do at BC in the second half.

As for Grimaldi...uneven performance. He made some very nice plays, especially setting up McCabe's second goal. However, he made a few really stupid plays as well...trying to get too cute. He's trying to do too much. Luckily, Canada did not make him pay.

Sweet. Petty program disputes when we should be focusing on the fact that these kids are playing for their country and there are scary Russian cheerleaders dancing in skimpy neon outfits every game. Get your priorities straight people.

Cheerleaders belong at the basketball court, not the hockey rink. I do appreciate the eye candy, though.

Petty? PETTY?

There's nothing petty about any program disputes.

More than 40 hours till the game. Lighten up.

We're all rooting for the same result, regardless of what jersey these guys wear when not wearing the red, white & blue.

Re: Team USA--WJC

Kudos to USA Hockey for thinking outside the box and having a HS coach take the reigns. As others have mentioned, have to believe junior programs/colleges will start calling Housley.

There used to be the thought that USA Hockey relied too heavily on its own guys--the Ann Arbor guys--I'm curious if that belief is still out there. I honestly don't know as I don't follow it closely enough. But in recent years I haven't seen the complaining about this topic that I used to see. From afar, there appears to be a good mix on this team of CHL players, Development Team players and other players. Keep this momentum going.

Disagree. I think Johnny Gaudreu is the devil and John Gibson should be kicked off the team for daring not to play for Michigan and instead opting for the CHL. Actually I just have a thing against guys named John. Jonathon Toews ruined the US' chances at Gold in 2007 and John Tavares did the same thing in 2009.

Yep.

In addition, look at the roster and where these guys come from geographically. They're from all over the country which really is a great thing and bodes well for the future of our national teams.

In addition, it will hopefully have some impact on growing the sport nationally, although this growth will probably need to be measured in geological time. Still... very cool.
