Team USA--WJC

Re: Team USA--WJC

Glad to hear it. It wouldn't have seemed right for Russia to need two shootout wins to get to the Gold Medal game and have a huge home ice advantage.

There's something that makes me hope Russia wins the bronze. I'd love to see SportsCentre after that happens.

Re: Team USA--WJC

Too bad Skjei wasn't there to save the day...

Skjei has played terrible this year there is no question about that.
Skjei = Forbort - both drafted off potential based on raw tools, but at the end of the day you need to know how to play hockey too.

But, Reilly > Schmaltz :D
Reilly will be unstoppable in another year or so.

I didn't turn this thread towards a WCHA p-i-s-sing match, but since we're there for the moment...

How is it that there are only two Minnesota born players on this squad?

Dubbs! How is this possible!?!

P.S. There are also two from Wisconsin, even if one of them was born to a Russian living in Milwaukee.

:p:D:p:D

You're as foolish as he is.

Did anyone else notice that three shootout losses for the Swiss [3 pts] was better for them in the standings than one shootout win by the Czech Republic over the Swiss [2 pts]?

Re: Team USA--WJC

So do you suppose sometime this weekend Steve Spott is going to find himself in the train station in Ufa, Russia, staring at the Departures screen, contemplating the choice between Ufa International Airport and Siberian gulags? :p

Only if they lose to the Rooskies. ;)

Re: Team USA--WJC

Of course you KNOW, if USA wins the gold and Canada comes in 4th, Canada's going to demand a change to the format so that only the top 4 go to the medal rounds.

Re: Team USA--WJC

With two 2-1 defeats to host russia and powerhouse canada, this is the most impressed I've been with a team USA/coach in the close to 15 years I've been following this tourney.

Same here. The adjustments they have made have all been the right ones. And there has been no quit from this team. Truely impressive.
