Sunyac 21-22

We got the matchup everyone wanted. #1 vs. #2. Geneseo at Utica. Saturday at 7:00pm.

Utica will be streaming the game with Ray Biggs on the call.

I'll be there providing updates in this thread for those who aren't watching the game.

Hamilton beat Potsdam, 3-0. Potsdam's ability to score is nonexistent…

Trine beats Buffalo State, 5-3.

Morrisville beat King's, 5-3.

Connecticut beat Brockport, 3-2.

Geneseo strikes first at 14:42. Peter Morgan with a long range shot sailed in waist high.

That's how the first period ends. Utica leads the shots, 8-6. Utica had two golden chances alone down low but the Geneseo goalie made superb saves.

Oswego leads Williams, 2-0, in the second.

Geneseo holds on to the 1-0 lead after two periods. Geneseo’s Matt Petizian has come up with some huge saves. Only PP of the game went to Utica, who leads in shots, 16-10.

Oswego still leads, 2-0, halfway through the third.

Petizian's sprawling save on the Utica 2-on-1 was incredible. Both teams playing very defensively sound, but especially impressed by the Knights. I don't think 1-0 will be enough to win this game, should be a fun third.

Geneseo will remain #1. Another empty netter seals the win over Utica, 3-0. The game lived up to its hype. Good chance these teams will meet again in the National playoffs. Perhaps in Lake Placid…

Oswego beat Williams, 3-0.

I'm impressed again with the quality of this Geneseo team at this stage, especially in such a big tournament. Seven players tonight in their first year of college hockey. Zero for Utica. In fact, none of Utica's six FYs were in the line-up.

Of course, this also speaks to the strong leadership being provided by Geneseo's upper classmen!

And what does that speak of for those upperclassman that aren’t playing for Geneseo?? Utica’s roster is loaded with GS and seniors. Morgan kid is every bit the player, I noticed him against UMass. He’s always around the puck making plays and grinding. He plays more like an upperclassman.

Sorry, I'm missing your point re Geneseo's upper classmen.

Point is if you have freshman playing, you obviously have some upperclassman sitting and not playing…….

If you would check out the Geneseo roster you would see that that is not the case. (It's usually a good idea to check these things before commenting.)

So I counted 15 upperclassman ( juniors and seniors) on the current roster. I count 13 soph and freshman…. By your own comment some players are sitting either upperclassman or freshman/soph. Some of those players maybe dressing but most likely not seeing much ice time.

Except for one unique case, all of the upper classmen are playing regularly. Your initial question was about the upper classmen not playing, suggesting they weren't performing adequately so more FY and Sophomores were getting ice time in their place. That is manifestly not the case. (Geneseo is also not in the habit of dressing guys and not playing them.) My initial comment about the Geneseo line-up and the Utica line-up still holds true. I still don't see where the issue/problem is? I suspect there isn't one, unless someone else can point it out to me.

According to Geneseo box score on college web site only 19 players dressed and were on the bench last night. So 15 plus 13 equals 28. Minus your three goalies.. leaves 25. So 25 minus 19 equals 6. So like I said before someone is sitting. And not getting those big minutes or contributing as you had previously stated in your original comment..
