St. Norbert General

St Norbert hasn’t scheduled an east team since before Covid. And for a coach who complains about playing Adrian 4 times, I can’t imagine he would even entertain playing Hobart.

It's because he can't get teams to schedule a trip out west. In the east, all they have to do is throw a stone to find a competitive team to schedule. They're more than willing to schedule with SNC if it's SNC on the road, but coach Cogs wants them to make the return trip, which few are willing to do. It's not that he's "scared of them" or whatever, it's because most teams out east don't want to spend the money to go out west. I'm thinking that the new rink could entice a team out east to play here.

Exactly. Anyone with a functioning brain, which excludes Icemutt, can see any eastern trip for St. Norbert in the past has required a return trip out west. Longtime fans of D3 hockey know this.

Adrian and Utica don’t seem to have an issue. I would think there are many takers if St Norbert is offering, which they probably aren’t.

There are two ends to every telephone and email.

I'm sure a coach who in his history has played at and hosted Middlebury (in their prime), Norwich, Oswego, Elmira, Manhattanville and may others and has coached in more than 10 Frozen Fours is just terrified of eastern programs. Especially when he is playing Minnesota State this year, although in an exhibition.

Quite frankly St. Norbert probably gets more out of playing Point and Eau Claire twice every year anyway.

Is that why he cried in his press conference last year about his schedule?

Boy you guys have a tough time comprehending English. He was pointing out that in the west you see the same teams you see all year in the NCAA Tournament. The east does not have in most cases the same issue.

I haven't looked but please enlighten me as to how many eastern men's teams are playing in Wisconsin or Minnesota this season. My guess is nobody and if there is you probably only need a couple of fingers. If nobody is willing to come out west then why should anybody from out here go out east?

You would think with so many national championships, St Norbert could afford something better than a TI-81+ calculator to stream their games. Can't even watch this without getting a migraine.

Forgot to reply to this. SNC webstream is fine. Unless you think by improving it you need fanboy screeching like you get on the Utica stream.

The answer is both nubs and Utica fans are some of the densest people on this entire forum which makes for the greatest entertainment (or annoyance) for everyone else. I've seen oz and platty fans get along better which really says something

I know St. Norbert was more than willing to make the trip out to Northfield for the PrimeLink if one of the teams would have returned the trip the following year.

Norwich’s problem is unless they break ties with Plattsburgh or Middlebury for their annual non-league game, they only have 1 non-league to give so flying/busing out to Wisconsin for one game probably isn’t fiscally responsible.

I haven’t done the math, but maybe in the new league they’ll have less league games and have more opportunities for non-league games?

This is more of a question for Nubs, but... are Utica fans really this dense? Or just the ones that habituate this forum?

Yes they are. They get lightheaded when they think of hanging a banner beyond winning their league. Hard for them to comprehend that it is a big world out there.

You better watch it, otherwise we will find another year of eligibility for Cody Keefer the next time SNC plays Oswego.

Aren't you the guy that said Adrian wasn't a quality win because of their conference standings in November? And you're calling Utica fans dense?

Everyone knows Adrian will likely be contending at the end. Not my fault you can't detect obvious sarcasm. But even Fishman is hoping they "right the ship."

SNC SID - are there any plans to hang a banner for last season's Harris Cup championship? I was thinking there was room for one more behind the SOG scoreboard in the corner.

Good question. I noticed that this weekend myself. I assume there will be nothing added until they figure out what/how to hang them in Rink 4.

I've been around the program just long enough to remember the last time they ran out of room for conference banners (after the 2010-11 season).

We are saddened to report the passing of Pete Vercauteren, known in this forum as "Pete99race," who passed away yesterday. A St. Norbert alum who played football here, he was a long-time St. Norbert hockey season-ticket holder who followed the Green Knights everywhere. Services will be Saturday in Green Bay.

Awful news. I met Pete a handful of times over the years and he was always a joy to talk to. He loved college hockey (and more specifically his Green Knights, as well as dirt racing. Two things we shared in common and talked about frequently.

Pete is/was a legend and an OG for this board. He was around for the Still No Championships moniker and then witnessed his beloved Green Knights rattle off 5 national championship titles.

condolences to Pete and the SNC community. Just an extra piece for what appears to be a special Green Knight squad to play for.
