St. Norbert General

A couple of notes:
* - St. Norbert's 10-0 start matches its best-ever start from 2002-03.
* - Liam Fraser has scored game-winning goals in six consecutive games. While the amount of consecutive games with a GWG is not in the NCAA record book, I believe this to be a Division III record. The St. Norbert record for GWG in a season is seven (Johan Ryd in 2010-11 and Adam Stacho last year), while the Division III record is nine (held by three people, one of whom is Paul Caufield). It is hard enough in hockey to win six games in a row let alone have the same player score the GWG in all six.
* - Fraser's 15 career GWG has tied Peter Bates for the most in St. Norbert history.
* - St. Norbert has had 17 different goal scorers through 10 games this season.

A few more notes heading into next weekend's huge NCHA series with Trine.

* - St. Norbert's 11-0 start is best in school history. Green Knights went 11-0 in November.
* - Liam Fraser extended his game-winning goals streak to seven consecutive games, which already ties St. Norbert single-season record. His 16th career game-winning goal is a new school record.
* - Fraser, whose 13 goals this season have come in the last seven games, now has 70 for his career. He is the third Green Knight to reach that plateau. His 145 career points ties him with Maris Ziedins for fourth on St. Norbert's career scoring list.
* - Pete is smiling tonight after this weekend.

A very fast paced game last night. It was up there with the first Aurora game for one of the best I have seen in years.

I could have done without the shooting the puck penalty on 26 at the end of the 1st. But it led to a shorty so I can't complain too much.

That game will leave a sour taste for quite a while. A heck of a first half of the season for the Knights but that is a tough loss before a long break.

Anyone know why Grant Adams wasn't dressed as the #2 goalie this weekend? Something happen in practice this week?

Edit: Also, I turned the game off after the ENG to make it 3-0 with 8 seconds left. What happened on the 4th goal with 1 second remaining?

I turned the game off after the ENG to make it 3-0. WTF happened with the goal to make it 4-0 with 1 second remaining? Garvey was back in net for that? Kinda glad that’s how Trine rolls, it should give SNC an extra dose of motivation should these two teams meet again this season…

Trine got a bench minor after the empty netter. Then lined up with 5 skaters as if there wasn't a penalty. Refs gave them the benefit of the doubt even after the faceoff was dropped with too many on the ice.

Yadda yadda yadda sloppy turnover and a quick one timer beat Garvey for the fourth goal. So technically a shorty.

Perfect, even more fuel than I had originally thought…

Seems as though Adams has left the program. His player card isn't on the website any longer. We have brought in a goalie, that being Vaughn Makar from the Anchorage Wolverines of the NAHL. He posted a .909 Save% in 18 games in the 2023-24 season, and a .883 Save% in seven games this season. Welcome to SNC!

Rather unusual addition of a junior player midseason...

There have been ~30 CHL commitments to D1 since 11/7. There have been almost as many defections from the USHL to the CHL. Combined with the fewer roster spots for D1 programs accepting the House v NCAA settlement, the competition for roster spots in "perennial contending" D3 programs is going to be fierce. Perhaps this NAHL kid is hoping to get in before the glut of D1 rejects show up in D3 programs.

I'm thinking that there might be more USHL players populating the D3 ranks in the coming years... and that some players might pick the USHL over the CHL to keep their college options open.

I also think that the term "D1 rejects" is a bit harsh here; many probably could've had a D1 roster spot if not for the CHL decision, and just got pretty unlucky.

I've counted 55 CHL commitments to D1 so far, using neutralzone's commitments page. Crazy. We could be looking at over 100 by the time 25-26 rolls around.

I was told by a D3 coach that in two years the skill level in D3 is going to go up considerably.
