Re: St. Norbert 2013-14 - a new mountain to climb on the way back to the top
What? St. Norbert won both games 4-1. Even if you think Amherst and Oswego were better, and I'm not saying they were, Norwich certainly wasn't shot count or no shot count. Norwich quit in that game midway through the second period and anyone who thinks otherwise certainly isn't being honest with himself. In the championship, Oswego basically had two majors (two stretches of 4 minute PP) and didn't score in second period. They outplayed SNC in the second in that one but still came up short in the pay window after not scoring despite 8 minutes of PP time. I would think SNC's kill and goalie had something to do with that.
all this SOG talk, Lets take a look at the 2012 frozen four
Amherst had 44 shots on goal to Oswego's 27 in their 2012 Frozen Four game, Oswego won. Norwich had 27 shots to St. Norbert's 23, St. Norbert Won. In the final Oswego had 30 to St. Norbert's 25, St. Norbert won. the lower shots on goal team every game.
I'll probably get some heat for this, but I watched every game of the frozen four that year and Amherst looked like the best team by far. St. Norbert looked like the worst of the 4 but won it all. Sometimes you get lucky breaks sometimes you don't.
