St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

Hmm . . . so what if Kain Tisi doesn't play well? Here's what: "In hockey, goaltending is 75 per cent of the game. Unless it's bad goaltending. Then it's 100 per cent of the game, because you're going to lose." Thank you, Gene Ubriaco, for jumping into this discussion.
Looking forward to the game, I am.

But 95% of ECAC hockey is officiating. :D

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

From the RPI game notes:

RPI-Clarkson
OFFICIALS: The refs for Saturday’s game are Jeff Zelasko and Tim Kotyra ... The linesmen are Mike Emanatian and Bill Lyons.

I could live without seeing Kotyra again:( We just cannot catch any breaks in games that he is involved in. Our record when he is on the ice is abyssmal. We just cannot give him the opportunity to affect this game-we must as usual play smart and avoid giving him the chance to make a call that can change this game.

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

Here's the bad news Union and RPI fans.

Not only is Kain Tisi having the season of his career (currently D1 #2 in Save % and #4 in GAA -right up there with Scrivens), by all reports the Saints are incredibly well conditioned and outplaying opponents in the third period. And to make it more fun, (opinion here) in a sense, SLU has nothing to lose. They are supposed to be "rebuilding", picked to be #11 in one pre-season poll and it seems to me they are just working hard and having fun. About as loose as you can get. And, since It will be very hard for SLU to make the dance as a TUC, even more than usual, they have to be gunning for the ECAC title.

At this point in the season, I don't see where anyone has "nothing to lose" except Clarkson & Dartmouth (and maybe Princeton & Brown). There's a big difference between top 4 and top 8...that week off is precious.

i'll take it - it beats having Baker, J. Murphy, D. Murphy, Wahl, Hicks, or McDonald out there. And at least Kotyra is doing the Clarkson game - not that it doesn't mean much, but the SLU game holds much more weight in terms of the standings than Saturday's game.

The good news for you: You have two shots -- a couple of key players are banged up and, of course, it's the ECAC where anything can happen and all pre-game analysis can be rendered moot as fast as you can say "questionable call by the ref."

Tisi did allow 7 different Engineers to score on him the last time he saw RPI - and SLU(t) was @ home that time....

I can't get back far enough on my scoresheets to have all the games but I have us at 2-18-3 in the last 23 Kotyra games (including the fiasco in Ithaca last year called game 2 of the playoff series). I know we have had some bad games called by all the fellows you listed-but Kotyra just stands out above the others for me.

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

RPI lost the last game they played at SLU 2-1.

my bad....i forgot we already played SLU once this year

I was at that game, RPI played like ****, and they deserved to lose that game, probably why i put it out of my mind... hopefully a different team tomorrow night

... I predict St. Lawrence will beat RPI tomorrow night because SLU is a better conditioned, harder working team with a very hot goalie that has been playing very well on the road since the break.

Gee, its too bad RPI is nothing but a bunch of pot bellied, pizza eating slobs who can't make one trip up the ice without stopping for air...or else we'd have ourselves a game. :D

Probably will be, since it sounds like Kerins will be OK. That was the weekend (and in fact, the game) where the doldrums started, with Helfrich and Bergin both out with injuries and the defense started going to pot simultaneous with the offense not clicking. Those issues have been rectified.

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

I expect the RPIvs SLU game to be an excellent one.SLU is a hard working hard hitting club that will make RPI work for everything they get. I think RPI will take it in a close game.

I was wondering who was the last 20 goal scorer for RPI? I would guess it goes back to the cavosie/murley era.

I'm with you on both of your predictions (close and excellent). The game will definitely be the highlight of my weekend.

And, Cavosie (23) and Murley (24) were the most recent 20-goal scorers for the Engineers (2001-02).

Thanks for the info on the last 20 goal scorer. If chase stays healthy he should put his name on the 20+ goals in a season list.

If he gets hot-and we can extend our season long enough-he has a shot at 30. No ECAC player has done that in over 10 years.:)
