St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

The '85 team is being honored in different forms over the whole weekend.

There will also be an approximately hour long interactive discussion featuring four players from the 1985 team (Sadeghpour, Dark, Hammond, Servinis) at 4:00 PM on Friday. The first 75 attendees will receive a DVD of the championship game.

The Alumni game will take place on Saturday at 11:00 AM, and an autograph session featuring members of the 1985 team will follow the Saturday game.

Highlights from the 1985 game will be shown between periods on both nights on a projector screen mounted near Section 1.

Should you be unable to make it out to the Field House, RPI TV will be live streaming both games and the 1985 Alumni Discussion at no cost to the viewer. Details will be posted here and in the game thread at a later time. We'll also be providing instant replays on the projector screen in the Field House during both games.

Good to hear that you intend to stream Friday afternoon's discussion. That should be quite interesting.

Are the instant replays also going to be on the webcast?

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

If it's not an RPI game, tickets will be available at Union.
That's true, but if you want to sit down you may want to get your tickets early.. the last 2 home games were SROs at game time. Of course, now that U has lost a couple some of the more fickle fans may be heading back to UAlbany bouncy-ball .

Here's hoping that in the spirit of reliving past glory, RPI can duplicate the 1985 team's results from the home series against the NC. ;)

Yes, we will be adding instant replays to our broadcasts. Lots of details to work out, but we have four more days to make it work :)

Aha, the final step needed to move RPI TV fully ahead of Time Warner Cable and ESPNU in the grand heirarchy of college hockey coverage. :D

League's pretty wide open. Cornell can't finish in last (if they lose out and Clarkson wins out, Cornell would win the tiebreak at 20 pts), and I can't get Clarkson to finish any higher than fourth, but that means any team could be in any place come the first weekend in March - bye, home-ice, or on the road (although Clarkson's path to the bye is exceptionally far fetched).

Does it involve a blind choice round robin? :D

That's one thing I like about the ECAC: It ain't over until the buzzer on February 27th.

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

Does anyone know if the Clarkson band will be the only band playing at HFH this weekend?

If so, then the HFH should add seats to the band stand and sell them for top $$. Sure would beat looking at the black hole that currently exists where the band once played.

The Pep Band was at both Women's games last weekend, but they were playing from Section 6. I sure hope they'll be here this weekend, it's way too dead without them.

Our band will be there this weekend. Last weekend was a case of the managers being too lazy to pull a group together. Confirmed as laziness as I saw one of the managers in the stands at Saturday's game as well as about a dozen band members. No reason they couldn't have played.

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

"Confirmed as laziness. . . ." Could maybe a couple of those bandies suit up as D-men Friday night? You know, just as an experiment.

Re: St. Lawrence & Clarkson @ RPI & Union (2/5, 2/6)

I agree- it's not the same without the band and puckman.
I missed them at the last 2 home games.
What's the problem this year? Normally we get a skelleton crew at least. The band needs new managers, who make playing at hockey games a priority. :)
Is the student who dresses up as puckman part of the band as well?
I hope our band shows up with more band members than Clarkson on Saturday.
The band does such a great job- when they show up.

I would like to feel sorry for you-but your team has just beaten my boys far too many times in my 46+ years of following RPI hockey.:p

True, but we have won a few memorable games. :) I also remember your story about a tie around 1970.

I can never forget that 3-3 tie with Clarkson. My wife(at the time) went into labor at the end of the second period. We stayed for the end of the game though. We RPI fans are tough!!
