St. Cloud State University HUSKIES!!

Re: St. Cloud State University HUSKIES!!

As of yesterday, Rudd hadn't had his return interview yet (he has that today). So, it was likely a predction.

Usually these head coach searches (like most job searches) are fairly private (for the benefit of the school and the candidates). Why is there so much information being published by SCS? I can't imagine that the current employers of these folks are very excited to see them being highlighted every couple of days - imagine if you're Trinity for instance and everybody in the free world knows that your head coach is actively looking for another job. I just don't understand the rationale that SCS is using to open this search process to the whole world and why it is necessary.... even government job searches don't have this kind of transparency.... it is embarrassing to both the candidate's current employers and also to the 4 candidates who don't get picked...

I'm not 100 percent certain, but I believe in Minnesota any college or university that gets $$$ from the state (as SCSU does) by law has to have this transparency when hiring for any position. When it comes to taxpayer dollars, there can not be an appearance of impropriety. Just us northern liberals doin' what we do best.

As for chosing a horse in this race, I have a feeling Potter noses out Bah, but I really like Harrington.

I couldn't agree more, why post their resumes on a public website so we can all read them? As a candidate I would not want that public. specially if I had a bad grammar day when I wrote my resume ;)

Re: St. Cloud State University HUSKIES!!

Tuesday was the last interview, I'm guessing early next week the school will choose their new hockey coach. I'm really interested in the direction the program will choose.

Re: St. Cloud State University HUSKIES!!

it's interesting that of the men, all have ties to the program, not one experienced college coach WITHOUT ties to SCSU apparently was interested

and somebody was saying I am full of BS for what I've said about SCSU? really?

it would be interesting to have heard how they plan to sell SCSU to potential recruits (other than UM, UND, UMD, ... didn't want you, well we do!) assuming the AD even asked the question

Whoever is hired should go talk to the men's coach about recruiting strategy and tactics. In the final USCHO and USA Today polls the men's team was ranked 8th in the nation, ahead of many traditional powers, both East and West. So it can be done...

Re: St. Cloud State University HUSKIES!!

Let the politicians talk about E Rudd, the new coach!

Bad grammar be d**med!!! Anyway, good luck to him and the team. And may the other candidates have understanding employers who don't bear a grudge....or find another job quickly.

Athletic directors usually have to grant permission for another program to interview a coach who is under contract, so they know who is looking whether or not it is reported publicly. Any AD who can't handle the fact that his/her coaches are open to promotions is in the wrong line of work.

I hope coach Fetter does stay !!
The more I read about coach Rud, the more I think they hired the right person. His list of credited recruits is very good, and no one would argue that is the the one area they need to improve the most. This years class is 5 players short of the 8 they have to replace.
I wish him the best of luck, we are very excited about the new era .

Here is first article. http://www.sctimes.com/story/sports...e-names-new-womens-head-hockey-coach/9627765/

Some interesting comments in there.

Nice hire by Bob, you think the AD made this hire? What AD would hire a person with grammatical errors on a resume? Plus no experience coaching women, and dont tell me its the same.
What institution of higher learning would hire a coach who cannot turn in a resume free of errors?

Maybe an institution that wants a respectable hockey team rather than an English teacher.

you've been listening and reading the self proclaimed experts too much. Those rules only apply to jobs that just about any pin head can do, the purpose of the rule is to winnow down the number of acceptable applicants, not find the best. Since anybody can do those jobs, you don't really need the best, in fact you don't want the best because then you'll have to pay them accordingly.

Mark Johnson never coached women before, he seems to have done alright, in fact he obsoleted just about every existing coach at the time.
