I suppose I can do the "hate" teams. Teams that I don't want to win, no matter who they're playing.

NFL: None. I don't even hate the Packers, like most Vikings fans do. In fact I was rooting for them in the Super Bowl.
MLB: Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox, Tigers
NHL: Red Wings, Canucks, Ducks
NCAAH: Michigan, North Dakota, Denver, Boston College
NCAAF: Michigan
NCAAB: Eh, don't really care enough to hate any of them
NBA: All of them can die
Soccer: See NBA
Golf: Mickelson, anyone from Asia

The "Prefer to See Lose" List:

NHL: Ducks (Perry/goonery), Penguins, Canucks (media hype/douchery/fans), Blackhawks, Habs (fans)

NFL: Packers, Cowboys ("America's Team" my ass)

NCAAH: Wildcats, Sioux, Eagles, Spartans, Badgers (roughly in that order, most-to-least)

NCAAF: Buckeyes, Trojans, most SEC teams

Golf: Not anyone specific lately, just usually root for Americans over Euros. Growing up, I used to be pretty down on Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson.



As for Michigan football, my dad went there, so I grew up cheering for them. I almost decided to go there, but wanted to be a lot further from home. If I had gone to U of M, I'd have been home on the weekends more often than I wanted to be. :p

:) Even still I don't hate them. Hate may have sligthly crept into my emotions in years past, but I just can't bring myself to get that worked up over sports anymore. Besides, even in the past when hate did come up it wasn't directed at a team but typically manifested itself as, "I don't hate the Packers, I hate their obnoxious, fat azz, drunk and football stupid fans".





Ah, that feels better.

I recently heard a good for this...Edina has been rich forever and their teams are steeped in Minnesota High School history. Eden Prairie, however, is all a bunch of nouveau-rich from Bear Path. Got me convinced :)

As for my allegiances, I have a long list with different levels of interest, so here goes:


Tier 1-I follow very closely, and while I hate to admit it, my emotions can vary depending on the outcomes of their games:

Minnesota Vikings
St. Cloud State Men's Hockey
U of Minnesota Gopher football
Minnesota Wild
Minnesota Twins
St. Cloud Tech High Football

Tier 1A-I don't pay as close attention during the season to basketball as I do to some of my Tier 2 teams, but I get caught up in the State-wide excitement when they're good:

U of Minnesota Basketball
Minnesota Timberwolves

Tier 2-Follow relatively closely, particularly when they're good, but aren't always emotionally swayed:

UMD Football
UMD Men's Hockey
St. Cloud State Men's Basketball
St. Cloud Tech High Basketball and Hockey
Notre Dame Football
St. John's Football
UMD Women's Hockey
St. Cloud State Football

Tier 3-Don't necessarily follow every game, but I update myself throughout the season, and will get pretty pumped if they are in contention for championships:

Valerenga IF (Soccer in Oslo)
Vaxjo (Sweden) Lakers Hockey
UMD Volleyball
U of Minnesota Volleyball
Osters IF (Vaxjo-soccer)
AFC Ajax (Amsterdam-Soccer)
Whatever Minnesota pro soccer team currently exists
Minnesota Swarm Lacrosse

Tier 4-I hope they do well, but don't really pay attention unless they are near a championship:

All other UMD, SCSU, UofM, St. John's/St. Ben's, St. Cloud Tech High, and Proctor High sports, and Minnesota Lynx

Teams I root against
NFL-Redskins, eagles, Giants, packers, steelers, patriots, vikings, & 49ers.
CH-UAF, Any BIG school cept UW, UND, MSU-Mankato,
NHL-Detroit Red Wings,Whoever Sidney Crosby plays for, & Colorado Avs
NBA-Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, San antonio Spurs, OKC thunder, Orlando Magic
MLB- Red Sox, Yankees, Phillies, Rangers, Brewers, Angels
NCAAF&B-FSU, Texas, All SEC Schools, most Big 10 schools

I don't really root for any NHL or NBA team, but as a fairly longtime Denver person, I like to root against the good teams (Avs and Broncos) and for the crappy ones (Rockies and Nuggets.)
