They'll have earned it, for sure. Last four games:

played Canada to a tie through regulation (losing in OT)
beat Russia
lost to Sweden by 1 (playing without their starting goalie)
beat USA(?)

Sweden and Canada have earned their gold medal game. Right now, Finland looks deserving of bronze.

Just out of curiosity other than perennial hockey 'powers' such as, oh, Bolivia and East Timor, what's the last country to be shut out in consecutive games in Olympic hockey? This would not be a great way for the USA to end the tournament.

Tuukka Rask is 20 minutes away from a SHUTOUT in the bronze medal game. That's right, a SHUTOUT.

Can't fail twice, can it? :rolleyes:

for the record, a lot of people had USA pegged for 3rd/4th at the start of this tourney. that being said, the way it has unfolded is entirely disappointing.

I expected this. I also expected the same result if it had been Canada playing for bronze. It's gold or nothing for both of us.

Oh hell no, wreck his confidence. I'm thinking about the duration of the NHL season now. ;)
