Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

I know somebody who is lobbying that USA would have been better off with Okposo. LOL. Although, he is about as big an Isles homer as there could be.
Garth Snow?
Yeah, I bet what Snow really wants right now is more of his guys playing in the Olympics. :p

Heck of a game. I agree with those saying Canada's depth is too much to cope with, especially on D (outside of Suter and McDonagh, and maybe Carlson, our guys are all lacking in some way).

Also, am I the only one who thinks Oshie is crap? Like, are we blinded by his prowess in shootouts to the fact that he looks terrible when there are defensemen playing against him?

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Hey, if we had to lose, I'd rather lose to Canada than Russia.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

we have fast guys, skilled guys and tough guys but canada has more guys who have that complete skill set rather than just one of the three

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Biggest difference between Canada and the US:

Crosby, Toews, Getzlaf, Duchene

Kesler, Pavelski, Backes, Stastny

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

You know, I feel we're closing the gap talent wise from when we first started sending the pros to the Olympics. The lack of scoring chances though is what's bugging me the most.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

watching curling. UGH! Murdock not on his game :(
Yeah, wondered why they didn't concede after six until the announcer said that medal games had to go at least eight.

Holy crap! What a recovery by Schiffrin!

THis

LOved the last few rounds of Curling. Missed the Bronze game. Had to work. The Gold game was abysmal. Like watching paint dry :(

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

You know, with Mikaela Shiffrin being 18, I figured that she would bronze out and return in 2018 with a vengeance. Instead, despite nearly missing a gate on the second run and almost hooking the next one (she cleared that pole by an inch at most), she recovered.

With Vonn's knee looking like toast and Mancuso underachieving, I think US just found the next backbone of the women's team. :D

I dunno -- looked pretty good to me! Double gold - hoping it happens in hockey too!

And Schiffrin was incredible. Loved her post-race interview with Todd Brooker. :)

Sad about the outcome but the last few games were tight with a lot of strategy and tons of rocks in play. This one was meh. It was over. Mercy rule shouldn't have had to wait until 8th

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

I was having some talk with people who talked about this game being a defining moment for this generation of American players.

And the definition? Good, but not good enough. When the chips are down, they will fold.

That's too harsh. I didn't see anybody folding.

Let's face it - there has never been a major international (mens) tournament where the USA entered as THE favorite. Sochi is no exception.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Win or lose for USA, #TeemuForever. Old school Jofa helmet, still effective at 43. Going to the box early in this bronze medal game for tripping Mr. Taxicab.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Timmonen with the slick attempt to shoot a previously broken stick at the puck. Penalty shot, Kane to take it.

Kane runs out of room.

Re: Sochi Olympics Results thread - SPOILERS

Timonen with a bonehead play to give USA a penalty shot.

Rask with a nice read on Kane's move to deny. It's like he's seen that move before. :)
